    摘要: Disclosed is a process for the preparation of 4,4'-stilbenedicarboxylate esters by a 4-step process starting with an alkyl p-formylbenzoate and utilizing intermediate phosphite and phosphonate compounds. The steps comprise(1) preparing an alkyl p-(hydroxymethyl)benzoate by hydrogenating an alkyl p-formylbenzoate;(2) contacting the alkyl p-(hydroxymethyl)benzoate of step (1) with a trialkyl phosphite to obtain a phosphite ester compound having the formula: ##STR1## (3) contacting the phosphite ester of step (2) with a catalytic amount of iodine to rearrange the phosphite ester to the corresponding phosphonate ester;and(4) contacting the phosphonate ester compound of step (3) with an alkyl p-formylbenzoate in the presence of an alkali metal alkoxide and an inert solvent to obtain the dialkyl 4,4'-stilbenedicarboxylate.

The invention also relates to ultraviolet degradable organic compositions containing a stabilizing amount of the biheterocyclic composition to prevent such degradation. These stabilizers are effective in the presence of other additives commonly employed in polymeric compositions including, for example, pigments, colorants, fillers, reinforcing agents and the like. These ultraviolet stabilizers may also be incorporated into the organic compositions in the polymer melt or dissolved in the polymer dope, coated on the exterior of the molded article, film or extruded fiber.

    摘要: A stabilizer combination for use in improving the resistance of olefin polymers to deterioration and physical properties on exposure to heat comprising A) an organic phosphonitrilic composition derived from a triphosphonitrilic halide and an hydroxy compound selected from alcohols containing one to about 20 carbon atoms and diols having the formula ##STR1## wherein X is a covalent bound or alkylene of 1 to about 12 carbon atoms, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different as hydrogen or alkyl having 1 to about 6 carbon atoms, and n is an integer from 1 to about 200; and B) from about 0.1 to about 25 parts by weight of an ortho-hindered phenolic primary antioxidant.
