摘要:
A multi-parametric vital signs monitoring device configured for use as an ambulatory and a bedside monitor wherein the device can be patient-wearable and is battery powered. The monitoring device can be used with a charging cradle to provide power to the device in lieu of the battery as a power source for bedside applications, in which the cradle further serves as an intermediary device to enable a data link with a PC or other peripheral device. The monitoring device can include a wireless radio to enable bi-directional transfer of patient-related data to a separate remote station.

A database is created that contains a plurality of data items gathered from many human beings wherein the data items affect the heart rate of a patient during a CT imaging procedure. Regression analysis is performed on the data in the database to derive an algorithm which defines an predicted heart rate value as a function of the plurality of data items. Specifically, values for the plurality of data items are obtained for the particular patient to be imaged and the algorithm is applied to those data items to predict the patient's heart rate which will occur during the CT imaging procedure. The predicted heart rate is employed to defined operating parameters of the CT procedure, such as the rate at which the x-ray source and detector rotate around a patient and the speed at which the patient moves through the imaging plane.

A system for measuring capillary refill time includes a wearable device and a control unit. The wearable device includes a force sensor to obtain a force signal and an optical sensor to obtain an optical signal. The system ensures that an applied force is acceptable in both magnitude and duration, and that a duration over which the applied force is released or removed is acceptable. These factors can establish that a capillary refill time determined or calculated therein is accurate. The system can also determine the capillary refill time based on the force and optical signals obtained by the force and optical sensors, respectively.

A wireless medical device is disclosed. The wireless medical device comprises a processor, a memory, a sensor for detecting a physiological signal, a radio and a proximity detector to measure a distance of the wireless medical device relative to a second wireless medical device. The proximity detector includes a ranging functionality. A wireless communication channel is created when a distance between the wireless medical device and the second wireless medical device is within a first predetermined threshold. The distance is greater than zero.

A method for reducing noise from an electrical signal includes: obtaining a sampling rate for the electrical signal. The sampling rate is a rate at which voltage readings are obtained for the electrical signal. Each voltage reading comprises a data component and a noise component. A time interval is determined from the sampling rate. A number of voltage readings are obtained. Each voltage reading is obtained one time interval of time after a previous voltage reading is obtained. At each time interval: a voltage reading is obtained; the obtained voltage reading is applied to a low-pass filter; a noise value is obtained from the low-pass filter; and the noise value is subtracted from the voltage reading.

One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that uses geographic data to identify correlated geographic synonyms in search queries. A correlated geographic synonym occurs when two terms that are possible synonyms should not be considered synonyms because they are associated with related geographic context. During operation, the system receives a term and a possible synonym for the term. The system then determines whether the term and the possible synonym are both present in a geographic data set. If so, the system uses the geographic data set to determine whether the possible synonym is a correlated geographic synonym for the term.

One embodiment of the present invention provides a system for detecting correlations between terms. During operation, the system identifies one or more lists contained in one or more documents and identifies two terms co-occurring in the lists. The system further determines a correlation between the co-occurring terms, and places the co-occurring terms in a correlated-pair list based on the correlation.

Monitoring and control of electromechanical devices from a central data center. The data center may be located at a separate geographic location, using broadband communication channels, such as Internet or telecom channels, and wireless HAN (home area network) communications. Such electromechanical devices may comprise, for example, an HVAC system at a small-business or residential site, a grounds-maintenance sprinkler system, or a small wind or solar energy generation and storage station.

The invention provides a method and system for communicating, processing and responding to information reporting the status of health care patients. In one aspect, the invention provides a procedure for allocating the attention of health care personnel to issues and events that are reported in association with health care patients located within a health care facility. In some embodiments, assignment of health care personnel to health care patients can be configured according to a set of directives. The directives can direct assignment of personnel based upon many criteria including, but not limited to, the identity and/or location of a health care patient, an issue or event associated with the status of the health care patient, the relative availability of other health care personnel to respond to the issue or event, or a combination thereof.
