A centrifugal blood pump apparatus includes an impeller provided in a blood chamber, a plurality of permanent magnets provided in the impeller, and a plurality of sets of magnetic materials and coils provided in a motor chamber for driving the impeller to rotate with a diaphragm interposed therebetween. The plurality of permanent magnets are aligned with a gap therebetween in a rotation direction of the impeller. Accordingly, if the weight of the permanent magnets is maintained at a constant value, a magnetic field can be strengthened even with a wide motor gap due to the diaphragm, as compared to an example where there is no gap between the permanent magnets.

In a diagnostic device and a diagnostic method for a motor unit of an electric vehicle, an oil degradation/others detection unit is provided which is configured to detect at least any one detection item of a contamination degree, a degradation degree, and an oil amount of an oil used for cooling a motor unit or a reduction gear unit during a non-traveling period when the vehicle is powered on. An abnormalities-time control unit is provided which is configured to send notice of abnormalities of an oil supply system or not permit start of rotation of the motor unit when a detection value detected by the oil degradation/others detection unit is out of a setting range.

The inverter unit includes a torque fluctuation estimator configured to estimate, according to a predefined rule, a torque fluctuation that is inclusive of fluctuations in torque attributable to a wheel bearing unit, a motor unit or a reducer unit, based on a fluctuation in a rotational frequency as determined with a rotation sensor configured to sense a rotational frequency of a wheel or with an angle sensor for the motor unit, a fluctuation in a load acting, between a road surface and a tire, along a direction in which the vehicle travels, as determined with a load sensor, or a fluctuation in a motor current.

In a wheel support bearing assembly including double row rolling elements between an outer member and an inner member, a sensor unit is fitted to one of the outer and inner members, which serves as a stationary member. The sensor unit is made up of a sensor mounting member and at least one or more strain sensors fitted to the sensor mounting member. A sensor signal processing circuit to process an output signal from the strain sensor is provided in the sensor mounting member.

To provide a controller apparatus of a type, in which the controller is given the redundancy so that the control of the drive motor can be properly performed at all times when an abnormality such as the failure of the controller occurs, with the reliability consequently increased, a plurality of controllers are provided, each including a power circuit for outputting a drive current for the drive motor and a control circuit, which is a light electric circuit, for controlling the power circuit in response to a motor drive command fed from a higher control. An abnormality determiner is provided for determining an abnormality occurring in the controller then in use according to a prescribed rule and then generating a switching signal. A switch is provided, which is operable in response to the switching signal to change the controller then in a state of functioning relative to the drive motor.

This centrifugal blood pump apparatus includes an impeller provided in a blood chamber, a permanent magnet provided in one surface of the impeller, and a permanent magnet provided in an inner wall of the blood chamber, for attracting the permanent magnet. A centerline of the permanent magnet is arranged at a position different from that of a centerline of a sidewall of the blood chamber such that a rotation centerline of the impeller matches the centerline of the sidewall of the blood chamber during pump operation. Therefore, high torque transmission efficiency is obtained.

This measurement device is a measurement device for measuring compressive force and pulling force in a direction of a longitudinal axis applied to a linear body having flexibility, and it includes a main body in which a through hole for inserting the linear body is formed. The through hole is formed to allow bending of the linear body in an arc shape in the through hole and variation in degree of bending of the linear body in accordance with compressive force and pulling force. This measurement device further includes a sensor for detecting a degree of bending of the linear body and a conversion circuit for converting the degree of bending detected by the sensor into a signal indicating compressive force and pulling force applied to the linear body.

A compressor rotor 6a and a turbine rotor 7a are respectively attached at either end of the main shaft 13 so that the compressor rotor 6a is driven by the power generated by the turbine rotor 7a. The main shaft 13 is supported by rolling contact bearings 15 and 16 relative to the radial direction. The thrust force applied to the main shaft 13 is supported by electromagnets 17. A sensor 18 is provided to detect the thrust force which affects the main shaft 13 through air within the compressor 6 and the expansion turbine 7. In the sensor 18, sensor elements having the properties changeable in accordance with a pressing force and capable to electrically detect the change in the properties are arranged in a circumferential direction of the main shaft. The sensor 18 detects the thrust force from the output of the sensor elements.
