The invention apparatus comprises a mixing vessel closure having rotating mixing blades secured thereto. The mixing blades are driven through an axially engaged and disengaged direct coupling. The closure is mounted on a power base structure for rotation about an axis that is substantially transverse of the mixing blade axis. Additionally, the closure mounting includes a translational drive for linearly raising and lowering the closure at each of two positions about the transverse axis. A portable mixing vessel including a material charge is placed under the vessel closure. The closure is translated down to a sealed cover position over a vessel opening and secured to the vessel. The unitized assembly of the closure and vessel is translated away from a vessel supporting transport base and rotated to a inverted position. The unitized assembly is then translated down to engage a rotatory power transmission coupling. Rotatory power delivered to a fixed axis coupling element is thereby delivered to the mixing blades. At a conclusion of the mixing process, the procedure is reversed and the unitized assembly is rotated and translated back to the supporting transport base. The closure is then released from and translated away from the vessel containing the material mixture thereby leaving the vessel and the mixed material therein free of structural association with the power base.

An improved apparatus for aerating wine. The apparatus includes a housing for containing wine and air, a baffle positioned within the housing interior, and a valve which permits the placement of the wine into the housing interior. The housing can be inverted to mix the wine and air, and the valve prevents the leakage of wine from the housing interior. In one embodiment of the invention, an aperture such as a spout can be attached to the housing to permit the removal of the wine from the housing interior, and the valve is selectively openable to prevent a vacuum as the wine is poured from the apparatus. In another embodiment of the invention, the baffle can be positioned to faciliate the valve closing when the housing is inverted to position the valve on the lower end of the housing.

A method and apparatus for mixing powdered or granular materials wherein a mixing vessel having a vertical axis is rotated 180.degree. about a horizontal axis from an initial upright position to an inverted mixing position, then rotated to an intermediate position angularly spaced from the initial position by an acute angle, and then returned to the initial position. The movement of the vessel from the initial position to the mixing position is faster than its movement from the mixing position to the intermediate position so that, when the vessel reaches the intermediate position, the surface of the material forms an angle to the vertical that is less than the acute angle. The vessel is maintained in the intermediate position for such a period of time that, when the vessel returns to its initial position, the surface of the material is substantially horizontal.

The cooking material dispensing system comprises a dispensing device capable of clamping, confining, and transferring the material bag (9) and flipping the opened material bag and/or tipping the cooking material into the cooking pot. The dispensing system and dispensing method take a material packaged in the material bag (9) and can accurately move the material bag (9) into the dispensing position, making the cooking process convenient, fast and simple, and the entire process will not be contaminated.
