摘要: It is an object of the present invention to provide a shock absorbing structure for a vehicle that enables a simple and appropriate tuning of a load displacement characteristic, so that a desired amount of collision energy can be absorbed. In the present invention, each of two side walls which is integrally provided with top wall, to which a shock is applied, has a rectangular wave shape corrugated at a plurality of corrugated sections positioned to be opposed to each other in a direction perpendicular to a direction in which the shock is applied. In addition, outer flanges are integrally formed on an end section of each of the side walls, and a slit extending in the direction in which the shock is applied is formed on each of the corrugated sections.

摘要: Enhanced vehicle handling is achieved by the improved suspension systems constructed in accordance with aspects of the present invention, in which not only do the roll couple and jacking couple oppose each other, thereby causing the body roll to counteract the jacking effect, but also the pitch couple and the pitching couple oppose each other, thereby causing the body pitch to counteract the pitching effect. This results in the improvement of the cornering traction of the vehicle, the braking traction of the vehicle, the acceleration traction of the vehicle (especially in a front-wheel-drive vehicle), the simultaneous cornering and braking traction of the vehicle, and the simultaneous cornering and acceleration traction of the vehicle.

摘要: A suspension system for a vehicle (50c) having a body (52c) and a plurality of wheel support assemblies (56c, 58c) includes a tie structure (60c) interposed between the body and the wheel support assemblies. A first interconnection system (68c) interconnects the tie structure to the wheel support assemblies, and the second interconnection system (302) interconnects the tie structure and the body. The second interconnection system includes a plurality of link structures (304, 320) pivotally connected at one end to the tie structure, and pivotally connected at the opposite end to the body. Such link structures are oriented relative to the tie structure to extend towards a common point along a longitudinal axis (33B) of the tie structure.

摘要: A deformation element having a single or multi-chamber hollow section with a longitudinal axis to accommodate energy of impact acting in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the section. The deformation element contains outer section walls that form inner and outer section wall faces. The outer section walls are divided into section wall end lengths and lengths and section wall intermediate lengths, whereby the abutting section wall end length of a pair of outer section walls form corner regions with corners. The wall thicknesses of the section wall end lengths are greater than the wall thickness of the section wall lengths neighboring the section wall end lengths, with the result that a thickening of the section wall is provided in the corner region.

摘要: An energy-absorbing device suitable as an automobile bumper using sinuous (corrugated), elastomeric ribs, which can be either attached to a connecting member at one end and unattached at the other end or unattached at both ends. These ribs buckle in a direction normal to the impact force and modulate that force.

摘要: A deformation energy absorption structure has at least a first layer and a second layer which are spaced apart from each other and are mounted to be movable relative to each other in the deformation or load direction. The first and second layers have complementary protrusions and recesses, which are designed such that the protrusions of the first layer can dip into the recesses of the second layer and the protrusions of the second layer can dip into the recesses of the first layer. The first layer and the second layer are connected to each other by a deformation control device such that, in the event of a high impulse in the deformation direction, the protrusions of the first layer dip into the recesses of the second layer and the protrusions of the second layer dip into the recesses of the first layer such that the deformation structure is deformed in the deformation direction at a relatively low level of force, and, in the event of a low impulse in the deformation direction, the protrusions of the first layer hit the protrusions of the second layer such that the deformation structure is deformed further in the deformation direction at a relatively high level of force or that a greater force can be transmitted by the deformation structure. The first and second layers are formed from a plurality of deformation base elements which are produced separately from one another and are interconnected.

摘要: A bumper includes a carrier having a wall extending along a longitudinal axis, and a first leg and a second leg extending away from the wall in a first direction. A plurality of fins are movably attached to the carrier between the first leg and the second leg, and are spaced from each other the longitudinal axis. The fins may be moved to a deployed position to reinforce the bumper to improve low-speed damageability of the bumper, and may be moved to an inactive position, which may allow a fascia to more easily deform relative to the deployed position to provide energy absorption for pedestrian impacts.

摘要: An embodiment of a thermoplastic energy absorber for a vehicle comprises: a base and a crush lobe. The crush lobe comprises load walls extending from the base and a convex front face located at an end of the load walls opposite the base, wherein the convex front face bow outward, away from the base. The convex front face is connected to the load walls with fillets. The base and crush lobes comprise a plastic material.
