Abstract: 1,013,693. Control of motors. WILMAR CASTLE CO. June 12, 1962 [Sept. 21, 1961], No. 22600/62. Heading H2J. [Also in Divisions E2 and F2] The door of a steam sterilizer is operated by a reversible electric motor 46, the opening and closing cycles being started by a manual switch 95. A pressure switch 124 prevents the door from being opened if the pressure inside the sterilizer exceeds a predetermined safe level, and the opening cycle is stopped by a limit switch 102 controlled by the operating mechanism (see Divisions E2 and F2). When the switch 95 is moved to "close" the motor circuit is completed through switches 104, 106 and the door is rotated from its fully open position to an ajar position on its seating. Hook clamps are then moved to engage the door and force it against its seating, these hooks carrying a switch 111 which is closed only if the hooks are properly engaged with the door. The switch 104 is opened when the door reaches the ajar position, so that if the hooks are properly engaged the motor circuit remains unbroken until the door is fully clamped, when a limit switch 106 opens. This switch also closes the circuit through the controls 108 (not described) which regulate the sterilizing operations. The closing door may be arrested in the ajar position by opening a manually controlled switch 109. A circuit breaker 122 opens if the motor stalls as the result of an obstruction in the path of the door or the hooks.

Abstract: An omni-directional connection assembly broadly includes a hinge pin and one or more connection brackets. The hinge pin comprises a base section, a pair of primary walls, and a pair of opposed projections. The primary walls form a primary slot therebetween for receiving an engagement portion of a first panel therein. The opposed projections are spaced from the primary walls and form elongated passageways for allowing the primary walls to bend slightly outward for receiving the engagement portion of the first panel. The connection brackets are U-shaped for being positioned over the hinge pin and including flanges for attaching the connection brackets to a second panel. The first and second panels are then connected together at angles of between 0 and 180 degrees or more.

Abstract: A door hoist includes a bracket, drive sprocket, ring gear, hub assembly, set of planetary gears, and governor shaft. The drive sprocket has a drive sprocket axis. The ring gear is fastened to the drive sprocket. The ring gear has a ring gear axis that is in alignment with the drive sprocket axis. The hub assembly includes a connector to receive a door drive shaft and secure the door drive shaft in a fixed rotational alignment with the hub assembly. The set of planetary gears is rotationally mounted to the hub assembly. The set of planetary gears is configured to mate with the ring gear. The governor shaft includes a sun gear, brake assembly, and link. The sun gear is configured to mate with the set of planetary gears. The brake assembly has an engaged position and a disengaged position. The sun gear is rotationally fixed relative to the bracket in response to the brake assembly being in the engaged position. In response to the brake assembly being in the disengaged position, rotation of the sun gear is unfixed relative to the bracket. The link secures the brake assembly in the engaged position. The link is configured to melt in response to an ambient temperature exceeding a predetermined temperature.

Abstract: The present invention concerns an auto-close door for closing an area (3) at least partially defined by a frame, said auto-close door comprising: A) A motorized driving mechanism (10) suitable for moving a leading edge (1L) of a shutter (1) in a first direction (a) to close said area defined within said frame and in a second direction (β) to open said area; B) Wave detection cells (5) suitable for detecting the presence of an obstacle within the area defined by the frame; and/or C) In addition or alternatively, an impact detector (6) suitable for detecting an impacting event with a leading edge of the shutter, D) A processing unit (CPU) programmed to carry out the following operations: a) Upon opening the area a first time by moving the leading edge of the shutter in said second direction (β), maintain the area open for an opening time (t1), after which b) close the shutter, c) Record whether an obstacle and/or an impacting event is detected by the wave detector or the impact detector, upon closing the shutter; d) Count the number (n), of obstacles and/or impacting events detected during a number (N), of repetitions of the cycle defined by steps (a) to (c), and if n/N>vref,1, wherein, vref,1, is a first control ratio, then the opening time (t1), is prolonged to a time, t2=t1+Δt2, wherein Δt2>0; (e) Repeat steps (a) to (d) with the values t1 or t2 determined in step (d).

In various embodiments, exemplary systems may include a controller that may initialize and/or reset a limit count. A controller may initialize and/or reset a limit count in response to detection by a first position sensor of a first target. A controller may further initialize and/or reset a limit count by incrementing the limit count in response to a signal from a gear tooth sensor until a second position sensor detects a second target, whereupon the controller may store the limit count.
