    摘要: An internal combustion engine has a chamber that has a longitudinal centerline, inlet valving operable to admit constituents of a combustible mixture into the chamber for combustion in the chamber to provide a pressure increase in the chamber and outlet valving operable to release an outflow of liquid from the chamber under an influence of the pressure increase. An annular flow passage is defined in the chamber to conduct liquid towards the outlet valving and cause spiraling of the liquid in the flow passage by which a rotatable part exposed to the spiraling flow is caused to rotate. An electrical generator disposed externally of the chamber is driven by rotation of the rotatable part.

    摘要: A mechanically decoupled, fluid displacing Sterling engine includes first and second containers, first and second fluid conduits mounted to the containers, a pump mounted in cooperation with the second conduit for selectively pumping fluid between the containers, a processor controlling the pump, a third fluid conduit whose lower end extends into the lower end of the second container, a fluid motivated actuator mounted to the third conduit. The first and second containers contain an actuating volume of an actuating fluid and a working gas. Expanding of the gas actuates the actuator. The volume of the containers is pressurized by a geothermal temperature differential. The pump displaces the actuating fluid between the containers so as to correspondingly displace the gas for heating or cooling to provide the temperature differential to the gas.

    摘要: A heat engine includes a boiler, an injector for injecting working fluid into the boiler, a retainer for releasing the hydraulic fluid for movement away from a start position once working fluid vapour pressure in the boiler reaches a predetermined level, a returner for returning the hydraulic fluid to its start position following expansion of working fluid vapour in the boiler, resulting in reciprocating hydraulic fluid motion, and an exhaust valve to release expanded working fluid vapour from the boiler. The vapour pressure increase in the boiler causes a change of state from liquid to gas of a least a portion of the injected working fluid, followed by a substantially constant pressure heating of the working fluid, giving rise to a change of state from liquid to gas of substantially all of the remaining injected working fluid.

    摘要: A quasi free piston engine uses, a small, lightweight crankshaft to connect the piston assemblies of the free piston engine with a flywheel. While most of the power output from the combustion pistons is extracted by pumping pistons as hydraulic power, the small crankshaft and flywheel ensure exact TDC position of the combustion pistons in operation, and provide a rotating means to drive combustion cylinder intake and exhaust valves. Flywheel speed may be monitored to provide feedback on power extraction for further control of the system. In addition, a hydraulic push-rod system for efficient valve actuation is provided.

    摘要: The invention disclosed herein is a cyclic power mechanism including means providing for a variable dwell between cycles of the mechanism. The mechanism produces energy during each cycle and stores the energy of each cycle for consumption. The variable dwell between cycles is terminated and a new cycle is initiated upon the consumption of a preestablished portion of the stored energy. A preferred embodiment of the mechanism is a free piston engine operation on an Otto cycle. The piston of the engine is restrained after each combustion cycle as the energy of that combustion is stored for use. When a preestablished portion of the stored energy has been consumed, the piston is released and forced into another compression and combustion cycle for further storage of the combustion energy.

    摘要: The combustion engine using several kinds of fuels is provided with intake and exhaust valves and an injection device which may be electronically adjusted. It is comprised of at least one working cylinder (1, 1a) at the upper part of which is provided a fuel supply device (4), an intake valve (5) and an ignition device (6); these elements being all electronically adjustable. In the working cylinder (1, 1a) there is provided a piston (9) which is in communication with a pressure accumulator device. This connection device may be comprised of a hydraulic, pneumatic accumulator or even a spring accumulator. The piston rod (12), provided with a blocking device (11) is connected to a transmission shaft (15), (15a). To regulate the running of this engine, there is provided an indicator (3) of the cylinder temperature, a piston position indicator (34) and an electronically programmable adjusting and control device (20), such device (20) possibly being a microprocessor (20a). The control and adjusting device (20) has a display unit (51); this device (20) is connected with the temperature indicator (3), the piston position indicator (34) and, via a switch (21), with the fuel supply device (4) and the intake valve (5).
