Abstract:
A gliding or rolling board, such as a snowboard, surfboard, ski, waterski, skateboard, or the like, having at least one reinforcement. The reinforcement has a first web of fibers oriented along an angle between about null15 and null28 degrees, the angle being measured with respect to the longitudinal direction of the board.
Abstract:
This invention provides a carrier member made of a UV resistant fiber-reinforced composite material where a UV resistant coating material is applied on the surface of the fiber-reinforced composite material and a process for producing thereof. A preferable fiber-reinforced composite material is a fiber-reinforced plastic or carbon fiber-reinforced carbon composite material. A UV resistant coating material is one or more selected from the group consisting of ceramics, cermets, metals and alloys. The carrier member is produced by coating the surface of the fiber-reinforced composite material with a UV resistant coating material by spraying. This carrier member is advantageous in that it can exhibit properties inherent to a fiber-reinforced composite material such as a light weight, higher rigidity and higher heat resistance and that it little contaminates a precision instrument material when being used in cleansing with UV.
Abstract:
A stitched laminate, in which plural sheets respectively having plural tow-like carbon fibers arranged in parallel to each other are laminated, with the orienting directions of the carbon fiber yarns of the respective sheets kept at different angles against a reference direction, and are stitched integrally using stitching threads. The fineness of each of the carbon fiber yarns is in a range of 1,200 to 17,000 Tex, and the pitch of the arranged carbon fibers yarns is in the range of 8 to 60 mm. In the sheets, the arranged carbon fiber yarns are widened in yarn width to ensure that no gap substantially exists between the respectively adjacent carbon fiber yarns. The plural carbon fiber yarns supplied to form sheets are respectively brought into contact with plural rollers, to be bent and widened in yarn width.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a wood board for use as flooring panels and a method of making the wood board. The wood board has the strength and outer surface finish of hardwood boards, increased flexibility, and a lower cost than hardwood boards. The wood board of the present invention comprises a core layer having plural veneer layers oriented such that longitudinal grain structures of adjacent layers are perpendicular with respect to each other, and each veneer having longitudinal pierced slots placed therein oriented in parallel with their respective longitudinal grain structures; and a longitudinally sliced face layer placed upon the inner core layer. This wood board and flooring panel of the present invention have high strength, high flexibility and superior surface smoothness. Further, the present invention provides lower manufacturing costs and thus lower costs for the consumer.
Abstract:
A method for fabricating read-only copy protected optical medium comprising a light-sensitive material at positions capable of altering the data read during copying of the optical medium but permitting read of the underlying data in the reading of the optical medium.
Abstract:
A sole for a boot and the boot incorporating the sole. The sole provides the wearer of the boot with a level of protection from explosive devices triggered by the wearer stepping on or near the explosive device. Tie sole includes at least one layer of corrugated blast-resistant material. The corrugations provide channels that effectively channel blast gases generated by the explosion of the explosive device sidewardly and so away from the foot of the wearer of the boot. The sole further includes layers of blast-resistant material and a cocoon of material is also provided throughout the upper of the boot to provide a level of protection to the remainder of the wearer's foot
Abstract:
Wooden blind slats have a length, a width, and a thickness, whereby the wooden blind slats are made of a wooden board which is formed of a plurality of wooden slices, the wooden slices being joined together by an adhesive.
Abstract:
The invention relates to metal-plastic composites in which the coefficients of thermal expansion of the plastic structures used are similar to those of the metals used, and whose strengths and stiffnesses are superior to those of purely metallic structures.
Abstract:
A synthetic wood material and method are disclosed, including providing a plurality of continuous glass fibers oriented substantially in the longitudinal axis and coated with a resorcinol modified phenolic resin binder substantially free from catalyst. In one aspect, the synthetic wood material is oxidatively treated to restore color. In one aspect, the fibers and binder are precoated with a furfuryl alcohol resin prior to the pultrusion step to form the synthetic wood.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for shaping a section bar (for example, a nullT-shapednull or nullJ-shapednull stringer) made of composite material is provided. The method comprising the steps of placing the stacked reinforced-fiber sheets on a pair of side presses opposing to each other with a predetermined gap; inserting a punch through the gap from above to fold the stacked reinforced-fiber sheets in half, while holding ends of the stacked reinforced-fiber sheets between upper surfaces of the side presses by block members; drawing out the punch upward and then pressing the stacked reinforced-fiber sheets folded by the side presses therebetween. A shaped product shaped thereby is high quality in which a distortion (nullfluctuationnull) of the stacked reinforced-fiber sheets in the inner side ply or plies of bending does not occur and ends of the stacked reinforced-fiber sheets are aligned between plies.
