摘要:
In a fossil fuel waste incineration or plasma gasification process, waste heat generated by combustion of waste is captured by a heat transfer fluid and conveyed to an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) for energy recovery. In the case of a fossil fuel-fired waste incineration system, the heat transfer fluid captures waste heat from a double-walled combustion chamber, a heat exchanger being used to cool the hot process exhaust (gas cooler). In the case of a plasma waste gasification system, the heat transfer fluid captures waste heat from a plasma torch, a gasification chamber and combustion chamber cooling jackets as well as any other high-temperature components requiring cooling, and then a heat exchanger used to cool the hot process exhaust (gas cooler). The heat exchanger may take on several configurations, including plate or shell and tube configurations.

Described herein are embodiments of systems and methods for oxidizing gases. In some embodiments, a reaction chamber is configured to receive a fuel gas and maintain the gas at a temperature within the reaction chamber that is above an autoignition temperature of the gas. The reaction chamber may also be configured to maintain a reaction temperature within the reaction chamber below a flameout temperature. In some embodiments, heat and product gases from the oxidation process can be used, for example, to drive a turbine, reciprocating engine, and injected back into the reaction chamber.

A burner system for consuming waste fuel comprises a combustion unit having at least three combustion chambers arranged concentrically around a variable speed conveyor screw for directing the waste fuel along a fuel consumption path through the combustion chambers; an air chamber surrounding the combustion chambers to facilitate preheating combustion air delivered to the combustion chambers and to facilitate insulating the combustion chambers against thermal losses to the environment; a boiler in fluid communication with the combustion chambers for heating fluid to facilitate an energy conversion process; and an intelligent control system for controlling operation of the burner system. The control system controls operating parameters of the boiler including pressure, temperature and fluid level and activates an emergency stop alarm if any one of the operating parameters is outside a predetermined range of operating values.

Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for removing methane from a gas which contains the methane at such a low concentration as not to be rendered into a combustible range with whatever ratio of air mixed therewith. In order to ensure satisfactory methane removal performance even in the coexistence of sulfur compound and in order also to provide stable methane removal performance for an extended period of time without performance deterioration even when the methane concentration varies significantly, the gas is fed to a heat exchanger for preheating and methane is exposed to an oxidation catalyst which oxidizes the methane through contact therewith. Then, the resultant gas is fed again to the heat exchanger for heat recovery through heat exchange with un-reacted gas. Further, the flow rate of gas to be treated is varied, according to a concentration of the methane contained in this treated gas.

A system for producing energy and heat from biomass is disclosed. The system includes a feed system, a gasifier, a thermal fluid oil heater, and a generator based on the organic Rankine cycle (ORC). The system may also include a controller that takes input from a number of sensors and controls, among other things, the rate at which fuel is fed into the system and the speed of fans and pumps that draw the products from one apparatus into the next. In this system, the biomass is fed into the gasifier, the resulting producer gas is flared and used to heat an oil in the thermal fluid oil heater, and the hot oil is used to provide input heat for the ORC generator. Methods for controlling such a system are also disclosed.

A process for lowering the carbon content in ash includes introducing the ash having a carbon content of 1 to 20 wt-% into a reactor where the ash is burnt at a temperature between 700 and 1100° C. Fuel is also introduced into the reactor. During combustion, microwave radiation is fed into the reactor. At least part of the energy released during the combustion is recovered.

Systems and processes for processing sludge and other natural waste are provided. In one example, the sludge or natural waste may be dried into a powder using high-temperature gas to absorb moisture from the sludge, causing the high-temperature gas to become an at least partially saturated gas. The at least partially saturated gas may pass through a scrubber before being heated in an air-heater and used in the moisture absorption process. The heat for the air-heater may be provided by a burner operable to burn the dried powder obtained from the sludge. The heated gas may be used to pre-heat the saturated gas and may be used to dry additional sludge.

In a method for removing volatile organic components (VOC) from waste gases of a cement clinker kilns installation, in which the largely cooled waste gases are subjected to post-combustion, a post-combustion is carried out to an extent as to ensure a reduction of the concentration of the VOC below the admissible threshold values. The post-combustion is carried out for the production of vapour, whereby the production of vapour in the post-combustion is dimensioned for a gas volume to be post-combusted, ensuring that a partial quantity of the waste gas corresponding to the gas volume allows for the reduction of emitted VOC per unit time in the waste gas below admissible concentration values by rarefaction and whereby this partial quantity is simultaneously dimensioned for the production of a amount of vapour sufficient for the economical operation of a given steam turbine. The device for carrying out said method is characterized in that a branch line is connected to the waste gas line of the cement clinker kiln installation, between the pre-calciner and the waste gas suction fan, to which branch line a combustion chamber for a heat exchanger for the production of vapour and a steam turbine are connected. The invention also relates to a device for carrying out said method, characterised in that a branch line is connected to the waste gas line of the clinker installation, between a preheater and the waste gas suction fan, a combustion chamber for a heat exchanger for producing water vapour and a steam turbine being connected to said branch line.

This invention relates to a boiler (1) drying, igniting and combusting refuse and producing steam (2, 2a) by heat exchange with flue gases (3). Said boiler (1) comprises a reactor (16) with firing a secondary fuel (18) for generating a less-corrosive gas flow (6) and an end superheater (8) located in the flow (6) of said less-corrosive gas. Said reactor (16) could be a sintering reactor, a rotary kiln, a fluidised bed or a spouted bed. This provides for an increased lifetime of the end superheater and makes the boiler provide a high and efficient electrical power output.
