摘要: An optical disk player for simultaneously reading data recorded on different areas of the optical disk is disclosed. The optical disk player provides a plurality of pairs of optical pick-ups and pick-up positioning mechanisms. A rotational speed of the optical disk is controlled according to a synchronization signal obtained from a first pick-up and the first pick-up can read the recorded data by a normal method, however, other pick-ups need to change read rates according to respective linear velocity. Therefore, reading speed changing circuits are provided for each of the optical pick-ups except a first pick-up and they change read rates according to linear velocities of the optical disk at reading positions.

摘要: An optical head apparatus is provided with a holographic element composed of the first grid region which splits the light beam emitted from the light source into a plurality of light beams and the second grid region which diffracts the light beams reflected from the data-recording medium on the same plane, and prevents unnecessary signals from mixing themselves into the reproduction signal by varying at least the diffraction direction or the diffraction angle of the light beams in these grid regions. The first grid region has an elliptic aperture to make the .+-. primarily condensed spot beams onto the data-recording medium being extended elliptically to the data-recording direction. The direction of the border of the four photosensitive elements of the photo detector which detects the light beams reflected from the data-recording medium coincides with the direction of the deviation of the condensed spot beams of the reflected light beam, the deviation being caused by the deviation of tracking, the variation of the wave length of the light source and the like.

摘要: A method and apparatus for reproducing signals stored on a carrier in the form of undulations corresponding to the signals, the undulations generally being formed in a spiral groove. The undulations on the carrier are moved past a suitable radiation source, such as a light source, and the density of the radiation emanating from the undulations, which is a function of the curvature of the undulation, is detected by a suitable radiation detector after it passes through a suitable slit aperture arranged at a predetermined distance from the carrier surface, so that variations in the density are a function of the undulations. The undulations may be either frequency or phase modulated with respect to the signal and their amplitude can be modified as a function of their recorded wavelength in such a maner that the curved surface portions of the undulations have nearly the same focal length for all occurring wavelengths. The carrier can have at least one recording surface in which is formed a groove having a trapezoidal cross section and having its bottom surface provided with the undulations.
