    摘要: In a liquid crystal display device for receiving television signals by an interlace scanning method, number of the rows of pixels and of scan signal lines on a liquid crystal panel is increased to be the same as the number of valid scan lines of 1 frame of television signals. The original video signals to be inputted to the device are compressed to 1/2, and interpolating signals are added to every line of the compressed signals to form pseudo video signals. Shift register operation of a scan driver and the segment driver are done twice as fast as that in the conventional device, and start timing of the shift register operation of the segment driver is controlled to be shifted by 1/2 horizontal scanning period between the even field and odd field, while the pseudo video signals are applied to the segment driver. Consequently, to the rows of pixels to which original video signals are applied in the even field and to the rows of pixels to which interpolating signals are applied in the even field, interpolating signals and original video signals are applied in the odd field, respectively. Consequently, display can be carried out seemingly in accordance with the interlace scanning method.

    摘要: A liquid crystal displaying panel is formed of a number of pixels in the horizontal and vertical directions based on a PAL system of many horizontal scanning lines. A polarity reversing circuit reverses the polarity of an input video signal at a predetermined period and a signal feeding circuit samples the video signal reversed in the polarity and holds it. The signal feeding circuit feeds the output to the respective data lines of the liquid crystal panel and can feed the output corresponding to the data lines of an NTSC video displaying region by a switch to the data lines corresponding to the blank part other than the NTSC system video displaying region. A scanning circuit feeds a driving signal to the respective gate lines of the liquid crystal displaying panel and can feed the output corresponding to the gate lines of the NTSC video displaying region by a switch so that, when the NTSC system is selected, an intrinsic NTSC video will be displayed in the displaying region and the NTSC video will be displayed also in the blank part. That is to say, by alternately driving the liquid crystal of all the pixels, a video of the same picture quality can be displayed in the PAL system and NTSC system without deteriorating the liquid crystal.

    摘要: A display device, such as thin film EL display device, is formed by interposing a dielectric layer between a plurality of scanning electrodes and a plurality of data electrodes which are arranged at right angles.     摘要: This invention relates to gradation display by a pulse width control method (PWM method) in every pixel in a capacitive display apparatus such as a liquid crystal display apparatus. The driving voltage applied to the electrodes is varied slowly, and the number of gradations of gradation display by the PWM method is increased. Since the capacitive display apparatus is used, for each electrode further from the drive circuit, the driving pulse is more influenced and its persisting duration is extended. As a result, even in identical gradation data, uneven colors may occur. The pulse width applied to the electrodes is gradually decreased as scanning of the electrodes sequentially occurs. Therefore, the brightness of the capacitive display apparatus may be made uniform over the entire screen surface.

    摘要: An actuation circuit for a liquid crystal display includes a plurality of pixel elements constructed in the form of a matrix of columns and rows and a plurality of column capacitors connected to respective columns of the liquid crystal display that can be charged to store a signal to be displayed. The activation circuit comprises a number of blocks which each comprise a separate group of the columns forming the matrix of pixel elements, a corresponding number of column capacitors, and a plurality of data lines. The individual data lines receive respective signals and are connected to the column capacitors. A switch device is connected to each respective block for successively switching between the number of blocks. The signal to be displayed is fed in parallel through the data lines of the columns of a first block to charge respective column capacitors of the first block and after the charging of the column capacitors in the first block, the input lines are switched by the switch device to the data lines of the columns of the next-following block.
