    摘要: A method for surface coloring plastic objects after manufacture. The method consists of a first step for impregnating a printed paper substrate, whereon pigments of the family known as disperse inks and/or sublimatic inks are deposited within the printing inks, with an aqueous solution of a solvent which activates the print and is capable of activating the surface of the plastic to be treated. Another step consists in covering the parts of the object to be treated with the paper substrate and in then removing the substrate and drying the parts. The final step consists of introduction into an atmosphere of vapors of a product which is a solvent for the pigments, for a time sufficient to fix the pigments to the surface.

    摘要: Electron beam radiation curing of inks on game balls, golf balls and the like is disclosed. Production inks, logo inks and methods for forming production prints and logos on golf balls, game balls and the like are disclosed. To form an electron beam radiation curable water-insoluble production ink, at least an adhesion promoting component is added to an ink base. The adhesion promoting component is selected from the group consisting of a carboxylic acid functional monomer, a carboxylic acid functional oligomer, an ester functional monomer, an ester functional oligomer and mixtures thereof, the adhesion promoting component having at least one adhesion promoting functional moiety comprising at least about 2 moles of a carbonyl functionality per mole of the adhesion promoting component and being sufficient to maintain adhesion of the production ink of at least about 75% of the inked surface to the topcoat and to the surface of the game ball or the golf ball after electron beam radiation curing and after coating the production ink with the topcoat. To form an electron beam radiation curable water-insoluble logo ink, at least a toughening agent is added to an ink base. The toughening agent is sufficient to maintain adhesion of the logo ink to the topcoat of at least about 75% of the inked surface after electron beam radiation curing.

    摘要: A method and related compositions for preparing a substrate for printing are described. The invention comprises coating a non-paper substrate with an adherent base coat and a hydrophilic top coat. The base coat adheres to the substrate and the top coat, which is applied to the base coat and adheres to it, provides an ink receptive surface on which ink pigment can be deposited. A base coating composition comprises a type-A gelatin and an acrylic polymer. A top coating composition comprises a type-A or type-B gelatin and a hydrophilic organic polymer. A base- and top-coated substrate of the invention is particularly suited for use with ink-jet printers that employ aqueous-based inks. Printing substrates include such materials as canvas, leather, polymeric films and sheets, and the like.
