摘要: A method and apparatus for allocating bandwidth in a broadband wireless communication system is disclosed. One embodiment uses a self-correcting bandwidth request/grant protocol. The self-correcting bandwidth request/grant protocol utilizes a combination of incremental and aggregate bandwidth requests. CPEs primarily transmit incremental bandwidth requests to their associated base stations, followed by periodic transmissions of aggregate bandwidth requests. The use of periodic aggregate bandwidth requests (that express the current state of their respective connection queues) allows the bandwidth allocation method and apparatus to be “self-correcting”. Another embodiment utilizes an abridged bandwidth request/grant protocol to allocate bandwidth. The abridged bandwidth request/grant protocol system utilizes padding packets to request a reduction in bandwidth allocation to a CPE. A base station modem alerts a base station CPU when the BS modem receives a padding packet from a CPE. After alerting the BS CPU the method can reduce the associated CPE's bandwidth allocation.

摘要: A network node for an optical transport network is disclosed, which has a signal input for receiving a multiplexed transport signal carrying a number of n timeslots of a fixed size data capacity, a demultiplexer for demultiplexing the received signal into a number of m>1 sub-signals, each sub-signal carrying a fraction of n/m of said timeslots, one or more space switch modules for configurably switching said sub-signals, and a multiplexer receiving sub-signals from said one or more space switch modules; for multiplexing timeslots from said sub-signals into an outgoing multiplexed transport signal carrying n of said timeslots. The multiplexer is connected to the one or more switch modules over a number of l>m interconnections and receives from said one or more switch modules up to l sub-signals. Moreover, the multiplexer can be configured to select the n timeslots for the outgoing multiplexed transport signal from the up to l sub-signals.

摘要: A multiplexer capable of automatically and dynamically selecting a correct or the best input out of a pre-configurable set of alternative inputs, based on the current status of the alternative inputs. An input status-sensitive, dynamic, M-by-M digital cross-connect can be formed out of an arrangement of M (an integer) instances of such input-controllable dynamic M:1 multiplexers. An application is an SDH/SONET cross-connect system that is able to perform a protection-switch for any number, up to all, of its output paths, simultaneously, if necessary, thereby enabling a short and deterministic latency for individual-path-granular protection-switch process for cross-connects of unlimited capacity. Another application is an SDH/SONET path that can be dynamically shared, even at a single time-slot granularity, among multiple path sources. Such a multi-source-bus configuration of an SDH/SONET path enables allocating network resources dynamically based on the real-time capacity demand patterns, thereby maximizing the network throughput for bursty data traffic.

摘要: A communications system improves performance of detecting a signal having an indication of a request to change communications states by making at least two positive identifications of the request in a given time frame. The system may further improve performance by applying a difference in power levels for a non-request state (i.e., steady state or ‘control hold’ state) versus a request state (i.e., ‘request to change’ state). In one particular application, a base station determines a request to change communications states with a reasonably high probability of detection and a reasonably low probability of false detection. The system has a reduced number of erroneous communications states, such as erroneous traffic channel allocations. The detection technique is compatible with 1xEV-DV systems and I-CDMA systems, but general enough to support systems employing various other communications protocols used in wired and wireless communications systems.

摘要: Selective DRX method on multiple CCs for a UE (320), at least one CC being configured with a PDCCH received from a base station (310) and arranged for scheduling resources on a physical shared channel to the UE on said at least one CC respectively and/or on at least one other CC, each CC having a respective active time during which the UE monitors or would monitor the reception of a PDCCH on said CC respectively if said CC is or was configured with a PDCCH. It is determined whether at least one CC is configured with a PDCCH arranged for scheduling resources on at least one other CC. If it is, the active time of said at least one CC is adjusted to the longest active time of said at least one CC and said at least one other CC. Otherwise, independent active times are maintained for all CCs respectively.

摘要: An apparatus and method is provided for generating one packet with transmission data and transmitting the packet from an access network transceiver system (ANTS) to a plurality of access terminals (ATs) in a mobile communication system including the ATs and the ANTS which are capable of performing packet data communication with ATs located in coverage thereof. The method includes the steps of generating a medium access control (MAC) header including information on a receiving AT's address, a length and format for transmission data, generating a MAC payload by consecutively connecting data units to be transmitted to the receiving AT, and generating a MAC trailer. The ANTS pads ‘0’ bits to the MAC header if a predetermined MAC size is greater than a sum of lengths of the MAC header, the MAC payload and the MAC trailer.
