Abstract: A display device includes a light guide plate which includes a light transmission portion and an antireflection portion at two opposite end faces and which is provided with a light extraction portion in part of a surface, respective light sources which are arranged on outer sides of the two opposite end faces, a transmission liquid crystal panel located adjacent to the light extraction portion, and a synchronous drive unit that alternately turns ON the light sources and that displays an image that is synchronous with an alternating turn-ON operation of the transmission liquid crystal panel.

Abstract: A stereoscopic image display apparatus having a low image data input rate, in which the required capacity of a memory is reduced without causing flicker and ghosts. In the invention, right and left parallax image data is compressed, the compressed image data is stored in a frame memory, each of compressed image data for a right eye and compressed image data for a left eye, corresponding to the same display gate line, is read and decoded, line by line, and parallax image data for the right and left eyes for one frame are displayed multiple times, as alternating right and left fields, within one frame period.

Abstract: An image display apparatus is provided that enables the chromaticity of a display screen of a display apparatus to be adjusted to the chromaticity desired by a user. The image display apparatus is formed by a backlight unit that is provided with a plurality of light sources and by an image display panel that is placed at a front surface of the backlight unit. The image display apparatus performs a monochrome display. In the image display apparatus, the light sources have at least three different types of luminescent colors that surround a target color on a chromaticity diagram.

Abstract: A reflective liquid crystal display device having a structure providing high contrast even if there is undesired light. The structure includes a light-guiding plate for receiving, from a light-incident surface, light coming from a light source, and for allowing the light to exit from a bottom surface; a reflective liquid crystal display panel opposed to the bottom surface of the light-guiding plate; and a prism disposed on the side of a top surface of an upper substrate of the liquid crystal display panel. Abstract: There is provided a (Ba, Sr) TiO.sub.3 film of higher dielectric constant and less leakage current for serving as a dielectric thin film of a capacitor in a semiconductor memory. DPM (dipivaloylmethanato) compounds of Ba, Sr and Ti are dissolved in THF (tetrahydrofuran) to obtain Ba(DPM).sub.2 /THF, Sr(DPM).sub.2 /THF and TiO(DPM).sub.2 /THF solutions which are used as source material solutions. A (Ba, Sr) TiO.sub.3 film is formed by a CVD method while increasing a relative percentage of a Ti source material flow rate to a sum of Ba source material flow rate and Sr source material flow rate. The film formation is carried out in multiple steps, and annealing is applied in each step after deposition of the film.
