摘要: Carbon—carbon composite parts are joined with minimum surface preparation. A reactive-bonding joint interlayer having thickness greater than 1 mil is formed of fine particles of carbide-forming metallic ingredients and carbon. The joint interlayer is sandwiched between the two carbon—carbon parts to be joined and the assembly is heated under a compressive pressure to a temperature sufficient to complete the bonding reaction. No special surface preparation is required for the carbon—carbon parts due to the nature of the reactive-bonding. The mechanical properties of the joint are assured by selecting the metal-carbon ingredients so that thermal expansion mismatch is minimized. Shear strength exhibited by the resulting joints is greater than the interlaminar shear strength of the carbon—carbon composite material.

摘要: An insulated beer fridge stores and ages corked craft beer in a vertical orientation for a period of several months to years without degrading the cork stopper used to seal the bottle. Cork shrinkage is prevented by controlling the humidity within the beer fridge container within a range of 50% to 70% relative humidity. An optimal beer aging temperature in the range of 10° C. (50° F.) to 15.6° C. (60° F.) is maintained by a refrigeration system. Relative humidity within the beer fridge containment is actively maintained by a humidity replenishment mechanism. A controller calculates the amount of water needed to bring the relative humidity to 50% to 70% at the beer fridge temperature. Beers are stored in the beer fridge on trays, which can be pulled for removal of aged beer and addition of new corked craft beer.

摘要: A flexible cut resistant hydrocarbon flash fire resistant latex glove article is provided, having a flame resistant cut resistant liner and a flame resistant oil resistant polychloroprene polymeric latex coating. The knitted cut resistant fire resistant liner has is made from a composite yarn having a fiberglass core and optionally including a steel fiber. The core has a cushioning core sheath formed by ring-spinning of microdenier staple cut resistant fibers of, for example, para-aramid. and Staple modacrylic fibers can be included with the staple para-aramid fibers. Two wraps of continuous yarns of polyester, para-aramid, or both at a wrap density such that the wraps do not cover the core sheath in its entirety. In the absence of steel fiber, the cut resistant hydrocarbon flash fire resistant glove exhibits good electrical insulation characteristics even with sweat generated from hand preventing short circuit of electrical circuits. The glove is flexible due to the low denier of the composite yarn and is highly breathable especially when only the palm and fingers are coated with polychloroprene polymer.
