Abstract:
A miniaturized dual-balanced mixer circuit based on a multilayer double spiral layout architecture is proposed, which is designed for use to provide a frequency mixing function for millimeter wave (MMW) signals, and which features a downsized circuit layout architecture that allows IC implementation to be more miniaturized than the conventional star-type dual-balanced mixer (DBM). The proposed miniaturized dual-balanced mixer circuit is distinguished from the conventional star-type DBM particularly in the use of a 3-dimensional double-spiral circuit layout architecture for the layout of two balun circuit units. This feature allows the required layout area to be only about 15% of that of the conventional star-type DBM.

Abstract:
A power amplifier includes a first transformer, a first transistor, a first resistor, a second transformer, a second transistor, a second resistor, and a bias circuit. The first transformer drives the first transistor. The second transformer drives the second transistor. The first transformer is connected in series with the second transformer. The first transistor is connected in series with the second transistor. Therefore, the power amplifier has input impedance and output power both greater than those of a conventional power amplifier.

This invention relates to the compounds of formula (I) shown below. Each variable in formula (I) is defined in the specification. These compounds can be used to treat a kinesin Eg5 protein-mediated disorder.
Abstract:
A method for preparing polymeric membranes is disclosed, which has the following steps: (a) forming a casting solution by dissolving cellulose triacetate (CTA) and polyether-sulfone (PES) in a solvent mixture containing n-methyl pyrroridone (NMP) and hydrogen chloride (HCl); (b) forming a membrane from said casting solution; and (c) recovering said membrane. The method of present invention provides an asymmetrical, microporous, polymeric membrane with a high recovery rate of nucleic acids and desirable bulk and surface properties. Also, the membrane so-produced is useful to the application of material separations by filtration and the like, especially the condensation of nucleic acids from a crude sample by filtration.
Abstract:
A brush applicator is adapted to be mounted to a liquid container and includes a brush unit, a hollow holding member, and a liquid discharging member. The brush unit includes a bristle-mounting seat and a plurality of bristles mounted on the bristle-mounting seat. The liquid discharging member is in the form of a single piece, and includes a base portion adapted to be received in the liquid container, and a tubular portion extending from the base portion through the bristle-mounting seat into the bristles. The liquid discharging member defines a fluid path extending through the base portion and the tubular portion. The hollow holding member is sleeved fittingly on the bristle-mounting seat and the base portion, and has a constricted open end for extension of the bristles therethrough.
Abstract:
A three-dimensional balun is disclosed by laminating alternate layers of conductor and dielectric substrate on top of each other to create a microwave circuit. The laminated layers are constructed in a transmission line configuration, corresponding to an equivalent circuit, wherein the first and third transmission lines, the fifth and seventh transmission lines, the second and fourth transmission lines, and the sixth and eighth transmission lines are pairs of coupling lines; one end of the sixth transmission line is defined as an input; one end of the seventh transmission line is defined as a first output; one end of the eighth transmission line is defined as a second output. When signals close to the center frequency of the operating balun are input from the unbalanced side, the signals are converted and then output through the first and second outputs having the same amplitude and producing 180-degree phase shifts.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a millimeter-wave passive FET switch by using impedance transformation network to transfer the effective capacitance seen from the drain to source of an FET at off-state to low impedance, while transfer low impedance seen at on-state to high impedance. Since both on-state and off-state are transferred to high impedance, and low impedance respectively, a high-performance switch can be achieved. Since the size of the transformation network is small, the performance of the switch can be promoted with low cost.
Abstract:
A portable electrical adapter is composed of a convertible plug and a transformer. The plug has a front part and a block. Two first blades are received in the front part and two sockets are defined at a bottom of the block. Two conductive strips are received in the block and each has a resilient member fixed on a distal end. Two caps are respectively pushed by the resilient members. The transformer has a notch defined therein and two second blades pivotally mounted in the notch. When the second blades are pivoted up, they can be respectively inserted in the sockets of the plug. The second blades each have an aperture defined at a first end thereof. When the second blades inserted in the sockets, the caps are respectively positioned in the apertures to electrically connect the first blades to the second blades and to stably mount the plug on the transformer. The second blades each have a circular portion formed at a second end thereof for directly and electrically connecting with a circuit board of the transformer to improve its conductivity.
Abstract:
A method of preparing biodegradable water-resistant paper utensils which includes the steps of: (a) preparing a pulp aqueous slurry at a consistency of about 4%; (b) adding surfactant to the slurry; (c) thereafter, adding between 8 and 30 percent weight of a biodegradable and water-resistant agent to the slurry to form a slurry mixture; (d) refining the slurry mixture at a consistency of about 4 percent to a desired drainage; (e) diluting the refined slurry mixture and adding an aggregating agent thereto to form a furnish; and (f) after step (e), forming the furnish to obtain biodegradable, water-resistant paper board or directly a paper utensil. The forming step can be through a hot-press at a temperature of 115.degree. to 170.degree. C.
