Abstract: This disclosure generally relates to various directional input units of a mobile communication terminal, where such directional input units receive a single user input or multiple concurrent user inputs and then acquires at least one selecting (user) sub-input therefrom while a terminal is in its powered-off state or its off-state. After acquiring the selecting user sub-input, a terminal runs at least one pre-selected operation which is selected from a set of multiple pre-selected operations and which matches the selecting user sub-input when a terminal powers on from its powered-off state or wakes up from its off-state. A directional input unit may acquire the selecting user sub-input from a movement of at least a portion thereof, a contact between at least a portion thereof and a user body part, or the like. As a result, a terminal can provide a user with more seamless operations.

Abstract: A wheelchair alarm system and method for preventing falls for patients at risk by recognizing the gesture of a patient attempting to stand. The wheelchair alarm system uses an array of proximity sensors and pressure sensors to create a map of the patient's sitting position, and then uses gesture recognition algorithms to determine when a patient is attempting to stand up. The wheelchair alarm system responds with light and voice alarms that can encourage the patient to remain seated and/or to make use of the system's integrated nurse-call function. The wheelchair alarm system can be seamlessly integrated into existing hospital WiFi networks, sending messages to the nurse call system as well as providing the patient's location.

Abstract: In a MOS transistor and a method of manufacturing the same, a gate structure including a gate insulating layer and a gate electrode is formed on a semiconductor substrate. A first insulating layer is formed to cover the gate structure. A second insulating layer is formed on the substrate that is spaced apart from the first insulating layer. A lightly doped source/drain region is formed in the surface portions of the substrate between the second insulating layer and the gate structure. A source/drain extension layer are formed on the lightly doped source/drain region. A heavily doped source/drain region is formed on the second insulating layer so as to connect with the source/drain extension layer. The short channel effect is suppressed and the source/drain junction capacitance is reduced.

Abstract: A semiconductor device for reducing junction leakage current and mitigating the narrow width effect, and a fabrication method thereof, are provided. The semiconductor device includes a semiconductor substrate in which an active region and an isolation region including a trench are formed, a spacer which is formed on both sidewalls of the trench, a channel stop impurity region which is self-aligned by the spacer and locally formed only at the lower portion of the isolation region, an isolation insulating layer in which the trench is buried, and a gate pattern which is formed on the isolation insulating layer and the active region. When the channel stop impurity region is formed only at the lower portion of the isolation region, isolation characteristics between unit cells can be improved, and also, a junction leakage current can be reduced. Further, the present invention can reduce a narrow width effect, in which a threshold voltage rapidly decreases as a channel width becomes narrower, owing to the formation of the channel stop impurity region on the edges of the active region.
