Abstract: A nickel-coated copper foil suitable for mass production, to which YAG laser welding can be applied while reducing the electrical resistivity by forming a nickel plating layer with a thickness of 0.5 μm or less on a surface of a copper foil by Ni plating, is provided. The nickel-coated copper foil has an overall thickness of 200 μm or less, and includes a copper layer made of Cu or a Cu alloy, and a nickel plating layer made of Ni or a Ni alloy, covering a surface of the copper foil, having a thickness of 0.01 μm or more and 0.5 μm or less, and including a surface having an a* value of 0 or more and 10 or less and a b* value of 0 or more and 14 or less in an L*a*b* color system obtained by an SCI measurement method in accordance with JIS Z 8722.

Abstract: Provided is a black heart malleable cast iron and a method for manufacturing the same which can significantly shorten the time required for graphitization, as compared with the prior art. The black heart malleable cast iron includes a matrix of ferrite and lump graphite included in the matrix, and includes at least one selected from the group consisting of (i) 0.0050% by mass or more and 0.15% by mass or less of bismuth and 0.020% by mass or more of manganese, and (ii) 0.0050% by mass or more and 1.0% by mass or less of aluminum and 0.0050% by mass or more of nitrogen. In addition, the grain size of the matrix is 8.0 or more and 10.0 or less in terms of grain size number, numerically determined by comparison between a metallographic photograph of the matrix and a standard grain size chart.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a cathode active material for a lithium ion secondary battery comprises mixing lithium carbonate and a compound containing a metal element other than Li, and a firing step. The firing step includes at last two stages of controlling firing to different temperatures. The at least two stages include controlling a firing temperature to a lower temperature and controlling a firing temperature to a higher temperature. The firing is controlled is such that the former stage has a lower oxygen concentration in an atmosphere than the latter stage. The firing apparatus comprises at least two firing furnaces of controlling firing temperatures to different temperatures. The at least two firing furnaces include controlling a firing temperature to a lower temperature and controlling firing temperature to a higher temperature. The latter firing furnace has a gas outlet being in communication with the former firing furnace.

Abstract: Provided is a cathode active material for a lithium ion secondary battery in which the secondary particles constituting the powder have a high breaking strength and a good coatability, and a method for manufacturing same. The cathode active material for a lithium ion secondary battery includes a primary particle of a lithium composite compound; and secondary particles formed by an aggregation of primary particles, wherein a ratio between an average particle size of the primary particles and an average particle size of the secondary particles is 0.006 or more and 0.25 or less, an amount of lithium carbonate is 0.4% by mass or less, and a breaking strength of the secondary particles is 30 MPa or more.

Abstract: Provided is a method for producing a Ni- or Ti-based alloy product, the method capable of reliably locally cooling and effectively cooling. The method includes the steps: heating and holding a hot working material of a Ni- or Ti-based alloy after hot forging or hot ring rolling at a solution treatment temperature to obtain a material held in a heated state, and cooling the material held in a heated state to obtain a solution-treated material. The cooling step includes carrying out local cooling by contacting a cooling member with a part of a surface of the material held in a heated state.
