Abstract:
A system includes a cap having an opening, and a septum configured to engage with the cap. The septum includes a first portion having a first width, and a second portion having a second width smaller than the first width. The second portion is sized and shaped to be received by the opening of the cap.
Abstract:
The apparatus for immobilizing and treating a subject includes a suitable apparatus for performing mechanical CPR secured to an immobilization casing. The airtight flexible casing is secured to the apparatus for performing CPR, the casing having variable rigidity which varies as a function of the amount of air within the casing. Two or more slots through the casing permit passage of one or more elements of the CPR apparatus to pass through the casing. One or more incompressible windows may be included in the casing to optimize the performance of mechanical CPR by permitting one or more elements of the subject's skeleton to contact the CPR apparatus. A device for evacuating the air from within the flexible casing to control the rigidity of the casing is included within the CPR apparatus.
Abstract:
An applicator used to apply microneedle arrays to a mammal. In particular, an application device for applying a microneedle device to a skin surface comprising a flexible sheet having a raised central area attached to the microneedle device and a supporting member at or near the periphery of the flexible sheet, wherein the flexible sheet is configured such that it will undergo a stepwise motion in the direction orthogonal to the major plane of the sheet.
Abstract:
A process and apparatus for mixing streams of regenerated and carbonized catalyst involves passing a catalyst stream into and out of a chamber in a lower section of a riser. The chamber fosters mixing of the catalyst streams to reduce their temperature differential before contacting hydrocarbon feed.
Abstract:
A tissue removal apparatus and needle assembly for extracting a tissue portion from tissue or the like, the needle assembly comprising an inner tube having an interior cavity, an outer cannula having a proximal end, a distal end and an interior cavity, the interior cavity of the outer cannula having an interior diameter to slidably receive the inner tube and a collapsible section operably engaged with the inner tube and the outer cannula whereby a forward movement of a portion of the inner tube within the interior cavity of the outer cannula changes the collapsible section from a neutral position to a collapsed position to engage the tissue portion. A method of tissue removal comprising the steps of positioning a needle assembly in a tissue, engaging a tissue portion and withdrawing the needle assembly to remove the tissue portion from the tissue.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of providing comprehensive pharmaceutical consultations are disclosed, including generating a consultation recording block corresponding to a filling of a prescription order for a patient. The consultation recording block may include multiple consultation entries, where each consultation entry corresponds to a particular pharmaceutical consultation that is desired or required to occur in conjunction with the prescription fill. Input corresponding to various fields of various consultation entries may be received and stored. Different fields of different consultation entries corresponding to a particular patient and to a particular prescription order may be displayed, populated, viewed, resolved and authorized by different pharmaceutical personnel at different work flow stages of the filling, and in some cases, one or more consultation entries may be automatically generated and at least partially automatically populated. The techniques described herein allow for more comprehensive pharmaceutical consultations as compared to presently known techniques.
Abstract:
A physician's programmer for an implantable device is disclosed. The programmer includes a receiver for receiving wireless transmission data from the implantable heart monitor. A processor is configured to extract from the wireless transmission data ST-deviation histogram data as a function of heart rate. The histogram data for a particular heart rate range is shown on a display in the form of a bar chart. The histogram data for a plurality of heart rate ranges is shown in the form of a chart with multiple line plots.
Abstract:
A coded wireless sensor unit has a slot sized to receive a key card. When a key card is inserted into the slot, the act of insertion generates a energy-harvested power pulse, which powers circuitry that reads electrical device control information coded on the key card and creates a first information packet signal that is transmitted by an on-board transmitter. The signal can be read by a receiver and relayed to a control unit which controls certain electrical devices which consume line power in response to received information packet signals. The control unit decodes received information packet signals and either turns on or activates the electrical devices in accordance with the decoded device control information. Removal of a key card can also be used to generate a power pulse, which creates a second information packet signal that is used to turn off or deactivate the electrical devices.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides multi-walled carbon nanotubes and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) displaying catalytic enzymes bound to the nanotube sidewalls and devices, such as electrodes, incorporating these catalytic enzyme-bound CNTs (cebCNTs).
