The laser is electrically connected and mutually and optically coupled to a control means responsive to a light output signal from the laser for controlling the laser by generating a control signal to the laser to produce single longitudinal mode output. The single mode output is maintained even during high speed modulation in which the current or ambient conditions vary.

A final layer of gold is evaporated onto the pairs of layers prior to heating the multilayer contact. Successive layers of chromium and gold may be evaporated onto the final gold layer prior to the annealing step.

    摘要: The fingers of a multistrip coupler for surface acoustic waves are weighted in at least one, i.e., input or output, track so as to match a predetermined energy profile for that track. In one embodiment, the weighting is achieved by apodizing the fingers of the multistrip coupler. In another embodiment, each finger is formed in a variable-amplitude zig-zag pattern. The invention is particularly advantageous when used to transversely couple surface acoustic wave resonators.
