    Abstract: Methods performed by a processor of a computing device for managing functionality of the computing device to interact with field equipment may include determining by the processor a location of field equipment based on information obtained by the processor proximate to the field equipment, determining by the processor a location of the computing device based on geolocation information, determining whether the location of the field equipment based on information obtained by the processor proximate to the field equipment and the location of the computing device based on geolocation information are within a threshold distance, verifying the location of the field equipment in response to determining that the location of the field equipment based on information obtained by the processor proximate to the field equipment and the location of the computing device based on geolocation information are within the threshold distance, and enabling functionality of the computing device to interact with the field equipment in response to verifying the location of the field equipment.

    Abstract: A wireless device (e.g., a cell phone) having a first SIM card for a first (e.g., private) wireless network and a second SIM card for a second (e.g., public) wireless network. The wireless device disables searching for the first wireless network if its current location is outside of a defined coverage region for the first wireless network, thereby saving battery power. The defined coverage region may be defined by minimum and maximum longitude and latitude values that superscribe the overall coverage area of the first wireless network. The network server for the first wireless network transmits a definition of a defined coverage region for the wireless network and automatically updates the defined coverage region when the overall coverage area of the first wireless network is modified, such as when a new access point is added to the network.

    Abstract: A communications device is equipped with a secondary interface, e.g., a wireless interface, in addition to a primary interface. In at least some, but not necessarily all, embodiments the secondary interface is an inexpensive Long Range (LoRa) wireless interface which uses sub-GHz unlicensed spectrum or a Narrow Band-Internet of Things (NB-IoT) wireless interface which uses licensed spectrum. The secondary interface is in addition to a primary interface used for transmitting data, e.g., user data such as voice, video or text data, to a primary communications device, e.g., to support voice or data applications running on a user device.     Abstract: A system for fall prevention includes a platform for supporting a patient, the platform including rails and rail sensors, an image capturing device for capturing images of the patient, a patient monitor for interactive communication with the patient, a health monitoring station for receiving rail sensor data and communicating with the patient monitor, and an edge network device co-located with the platform and communicating with the station and the image capturing device. The edge network device receives image data from the image capturing device when the rail sensors indicate that the rail is down and the patient is at risk to themselves, anonymizes the image data to generate a skeleton image, determines a posture associated with the skeleton image, triggers alerts at the station when the patient is predicted to be sitting, and triggers escalated alerts at the station when the patient is predicted to be standing.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing quasi-licensed intra-cell spectrum reassignment. In one embodiment, the quasi-licensed spectrum utilizes 3.5 GHz CBRS (Citizens Broadband Radio Service) spectrum, and a “seamless” reassignment of wireless spectrum without disruption or loss of continuity to existing data sessions of the CBSD is provided via a pool of temporary RF carriers which act as substitutes for the currently allocated (granted) carriers. The served user devices (e.g., UEs) are instructed by the CBSD to migrate to a new “final” carrier via the substitutes, either directly or via one or more intermediary hops. In one variant, existing 3GPP signaling mechanisms between the UE and CBSD/eNodeB obviates any changes to extant UEs. Communications between the CBSD and its cognizant SAS/DP include new information objects which direct the CBSD to implement the handover functionality. In a further variant, inter-CBSD sector and frequency handovers are provided for using CBRS-plane and 3GPP signaling.

    Abstract: Methods and systems for multifactor authentication and authorization are described. A method includes receiving captured image data of a person with a badge needing access to a secure area, detecting at least two faces from the captured image data, identifying a first name based on matching a face associated with a live human face with a control face in a database, identifying a second name based on matching on another face associated with the badge with a control face in a database, performing character recognition on text associated with the another face, comparing the second name with the character recognized text, comparing the second name with the first name when the second name matches the character recognized text, checking access rights, checking for at least another person in a proximity of the secure area, and granting access when the person is sole person accessing the secure area.
