Abstract:
A process of forming a functionalized polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) material includes forming an unsaturated PHA material having a carbon-carbon double bond in a polymer backbone. The process also includes utilizing the unsaturated PHA material to form a functionalized PHA material. The functionalized PHA material has one or more cross-linkable functional groups bonded to a polymer backbone of the functionalized PHA material.

An aerogel is disclosed that includes polyhexahydrotriazine and/or polyhemiaminal species. Methods of making such an aerogel are also described.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the disclosure generally provide compositions and methods related to articles that display reversible photoresponsive behavior.
Abstract:
In an example, a process includes polymerizing a mixture that includes an ethylene monomer, a propylene monomer, and a diene monomer to form an ethylene-propylene-diene (EPDM) terpolymer using ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP). The process further includes chemically reacting the EPDM terpolymer with a norbornene-based phosphinate cross-linking material to form a flame-retardant, cross-linked EPDM rubber.
Abstract:
An organic photovoltaic device includes an anode and a cathode. The organic photovoltaic device includes an active layer between the anode and the cathode. The active layer includes a p-type material. The p-type material includes a donor-acceptor (DA) polymer. An acceptor unit of the DA polymer includes a functionalized pyranopyran-dione compound or a functionalized naphthyridine-dione compound.
Abstract:
Embodiments described herein provide methods of processing an electronic component, comprising mixing a bio-based polymer having sulfur-reactive substituents with a sulfurization catalyst and a solvent to form a coating material; applying the coating material to an electronic component; and removing the solvent to form a sulfur-reactive polymer coating that is resistant to sulfur penetration. The bio-based polymer may be made by bacterial fermentation of unsaturated fatty acids.
Abstract:
A nozzle for a 3D printer has a body having a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a material channel through the body. The body circumscribes at least a portion of the material channel. The material channel has a proximal orifice at the first end and a distal orifice at the second end. The nozzle has an ultraviolet light guide coupled with the body. The ultraviolet light guide has a first end, a second end, and a light-emitting tip with a first end and a second end. The first end of the light-emitting tip is coupled with the second end of the ultraviolet light guide.
Abstract:
In an example, a process for reversibly bonding a conformal coating to a dry film solder mask (DFSM) material is disclosed. The process includes applying a first conformal coating material to a DFSM material. The first conformal coating material includes a first functional group, and the DFSM material includes a second functional group that is different from the first functional group. The process also includes reversibly bonding the first conformal coating material to the DFSM material via a chemical reaction of the first functional group and the second functional group.
Abstract:
Method for removing bubbles from a molten substrate. The molten substrate from a furnace passes through a downtube to reach additional manufacturing tools, such as an extrusion bushing. One or more ultrasonic sensors are arranged along the downtube. The ultrasonic sensor(s) transmit ultrasonic energy into the molten substrate and measure a characteristic of the ultrasonic energy, such as a propagation time for the ultrasonic energy to be reflected back to the ultrasonic sensor(s). A bubble is detected when a change in the Characteristic of the ultrasonic energy is detected. When a bubble is detected, flow through the downtube is diverted to a duct to remove a slug of molten substrate that includes the bubble.
