Abstract: A battery pack (174; 174′) having at least one all-solid-state battery cell for driving a motor of a battery-powered portable tool (1) can be charged using regenerated electric power generated by an electric motor (196). However, charging with regenerated electric power might cause damage to the battery pack if the battery cells are not in a state capable of being recharged with regenerated electric power. Therefore, the battery pack includes a battery-condition determination circuit that is configured or programmed to: (i) assess the condition of the at least one all-solid-state battery cell and (ii) generate an electrical signal that indicates whether or not the battery pack is in a state that permits charging using the regenerated electric power.

Abstract: A power tool includes a motor and a controller in a power tool housing. A battery pack interface is defined on and/or in the power tool housing. A receptacle is defined on and/or in the power tool housing to removably accommodate a wireless communication adapter such that the wireless communication adapter is disposed entirely within a shell of the power tool and no portion of the wireless communication adapter extends beyond an outer contour of the power tool housing. At least one communication terminal is disposed within the receptacle and is electrically connectable to the wireless communication adapter. The controller outputs to the at least one communication terminal a signal indicating a charge level of a battery pack attached to the battery pack interface, a number of hours of operation of the power tool, a power tool overheated alert, and/or a battery pack overloaded alert.

Abstract: An electric work machine in one aspect of the present disclosure includes a motor, a manipulator, a first switch, a second switch, and a control circuit. The manipulator is on-operated or off-operated by a user of the electric work machine. Each of the first switch and the second switch is turned on or off in response to the manipulator being on-operated or off-operated. The control circuit executes a motor control process in accordance with a computer program. The control circuit receives first switch information from the first switch, and receives second switch information from the second switch. The motor control process outputs a drive command for driving the motor in response to the first switch information and the second switch information indicating that the manipulator is on-operated.

Abstract: An electric working machine may include a brushless motor and a motor controller. The motor controller may include three upper switching elements, three lower switching elements, and a control unit. The control unit may be configured to execute a short-circuit braking operation for applying a braking force to the brushless motor by bringing the three upper switching elements into a non-conductive state and bringing the three lower switching elements into a conductive state. The control unit may be configured to start the short-circuit braking operation at a predetermined timing. When the short-circuit braking operation is started at the predetermined timing, polarities of induced voltages of first to third phase terminals of the brushless motor are reversed by a time when an electrical angle of the brushless motor increases by 180 degrees from the start of the short-circuit braking operation.
