    摘要: An access control system and method is disclosed. The access control system and method includes a terminal and a server. The terminal determines whether to allow access to a requested website and generates a request to the server to download information from the requested website if the terminal determines to allow access. The server determines whether to allow the terminal access to the requested website and provides information from the requested website to the terminal. The server examines the request to determine whether or not the terminal has made a determination whether to allow access to the requested website. The terminal and server work in combination to determine whether to grant access to the requested website.     摘要: A ferro-electric liquid-crystal panel comprises two substrates with electrodes and alignment layers which face one another, and a ferro-electric liquid-crystal sealed therebetween to align the molecules thereof in a homogeneous fashion. The alignment direction of one of the alignment layers is twisted at an angle between 110 and 150 degrees relative to that of the other alignment layer. The direction of twist defined by the alignment layer, as viewed in front, is opposite to the twist direction of the liquid-crystal molecules in chiral-nematic mesophase.

    摘要: An electronic timepiece in which an optical hand display device is composed of a plurality of segment electrodes of the shape of hands that are radially arrayed and opposing common electrodes that are divided into groups via a liquid crystal, the segment electrodes located at predetermined positions are electrically connected together, the segment electrodes being divided into groups each consisting of a predetermined number of segment electrodes, and time information is displayed by hands for each predetermined digits in a time-divisional manner. According to the electronic timepiece of the present invention, the number of terminals to the electrodes is reduced, and time can be clearly displayed by hands requiring reduced number of selection voltages.
