Abstract:
Disclosed are compositions and processes for controlling lepidopteran pests. These compositions comprise synergistic combinations of a CryIF chimeric and CryIA(c) chimeric Bacillus thuringiensis .delta.-endotoxin. These compositions have been found to exhibit excellent activity against lepidopteran pests.
Abstract:
The invention concerns novel hybrid pesticidal toxins. These toxins are expressed as the fusion protein of a chimeric gene. Specifically exemplified is a novel B.t. hybrid toxin. These novel toxins have increased toxicity against target pests. The invention also concerns a process for preparing a hybrid virus having an altered insect host range.
Abstract:
A novel B.t. isolate with activity against lepidopteran insects is disclosed. This isolate is highly active against the beet armyworm. A gene from this isolate has been cloned. The DNA encoding the B.t. toxin can be used to transform various prokaryotic and eukaryotic microbes to express the B.t. toxin. These recombinant microbes can be used to control lepidopteran insects in various environments.
Abstract:
A liquid crystal display comprises (a) a first transparent base; (b) a plurality of first picture electrodes on the first transparent base; (c) a plurality of data lines for supplying electrical signals to the first picture electrodes; (d) a second transparent base, parallel to and spaced apart from the first transparent base; (e) a plurality of second picture electrodes on the second transparent base; (f) a plurality of varistor elements made of a varistor material comprising zinc oxide as a primary metal oxide and cobalt and praseodymium oxides as additive metal oxides, in amounts of between 0.1 and 8.0 atom % cobalt and between 0.08 and 8.0 atom % praseodymium, one varistor element being associated with and in electrical contact each second picture electrode; (g) a plurality of scan lines for supplying electrical signals to the second picture electrodes via the respective associated varistor elements; and (h) electrooptically active liquid crystal material between the first and second picture electrodes. In a preferred embodiment, the plurality of varistor elements is in the form of a varistor array comprising an integral body of varistor material having two major opposing faces, one of the opposing faces having an array of indentations thereon, each indentation defining a varistor element.
Abstract:
A bullet with grooves to create more surface area to reduce drag, thus keeping a flatter trajectory that reduces the effects of wind, temperature, elevation and angle. Groves would be manufactured into the bullet and bullet jacket twist would need to match the barrel twist. For example, 1 in 8 twist, 1 in 8½ twist, 1 in 9 twist, 1 in 10 twist, 1 in 11 twist etc. Groves would be over the ogive of the bullet prior to where the bullet contacts the barrel wall.
Abstract:
Multi-use tool tables configured to support table tools and allow selective rotation of the table tools between an upright position and an inverted position are described in the present application. The multi-use tool tables include: one or more rotatable plates having a first surface for receiving a first tool and a second opposing surface for receiving a second tool, a perimeter edge of the one or more rotatable plates being attached to a rotatable shaft; a column with a first attached to a support mechanism and a second attached to a sleeve, the sleeve being configured to receive the rotatable shaft; and a stop mechanism configured to selectively resist movement of the rotatable shaft within the sleeve. The one or more rotatable plates are rotatable between a first surface upright/second surface inverted position and a second surface upright/first surface inverted position.
Abstract:
An apparatus including: an input optical interface configured to receive a series of optical input signals each including photons; an encoder configured to encode a quantum key for distribution by encoding each of the series of received optical input signals with a measurable state; an attenuator configured to attenuate each of the encoded optical input signals to create a series of quantum optical signals; and an output optical interface configured to send the series of quantum optical signals to the remote apparatus via a quantum communication channel.
Abstract:
A method of providing seismic data (such as marine seismic data). A seismic source is actuated at a plurality of source locations (S2, S4). For each source location, a multicomponent seismic measurement is performed at least one receiver location (S3). A reconstructing method is applied to each multicomponent measurement to obtain additional data corresponding to source locations additional to the source locations at which the source was actuated (S5). The additional data are output and/or used (S6).
Abstract:
Examples disclosed herein relate to systems and methods, which may receive wagers on one or more paylines. The disclosure relates to an electronic gaming system which allows a player to make one or more inputs via human gesturing, and associated methods.
Abstract:
One method involves payment of money to a recipient traveling to one or more foreign countries by entering into a remote computer money transfer information from a sender. The money transfer information comprises recipient identification information, at least one country where the money is to be received, and a payment amount in an originating currency. The money transfer information is transmitted to a host computer system. When ready to receive payment in the designated country, recipient identification information along with a request to withdraw a portion of a possible payment amount is entered into a payout computer. The recipient identification information and the request to withdraw is transmitted to a host computer system, and the requested withdrawal is provided to the recipient in the local currency.
