Since the granular appearance of the ink dots is expressed in terms of reflection density of one dot, the granular appearance of a lower density ink dot at a portion of image formed only by the lower density ink dots and the granular appearance of a higher density ink dot at a portion of image formed by the higher and lower density ink dots are expressed in terms of values of ODt and (ODn-ODt) divided by the number of pixels included the above region, respectively. Accordingly, by making the reflection density ODt to be approximately one half of the reflection density ODn, the granular appearance produced by the lower density ink dot at the highlighted portion and the granular appearance produced by the higher density ink dot at the portion where the higher density ink dots scattered in the lower density ink dots can be made substantially equal to each other. For this purpose, it is preferable that a dye concentration of the lower density ink is to be about one fourth of that of the higher density ink.

A confocal scanning type of interference microscope comprises a sample supporting member on which a sample is supported, a light source which produces a light beam, and a light projecting optical system with which a small light spot of the light beam is formed on the sample. A light receiving optical system condenses the light beam radiated out of the sample and forms a point image, which is detected by a photodetector. Before the light beam impinges upon the sample, a beam splitting device splits it into a light beam, which is to be irradiated to the sample, and a reference light beam, which is not to be irradiated to the sample. A beam combining device combines the light beam radiated out of the sample and the reference light beam. A reference light beam optical system equivalent to the light projecting and receiving optical systems is located in the optical path of the reference light beam. An optical system supporting member supports the light projecting optical system, the light receiving optical system, and the reference light beam optical system. A scanning device moves the sample supporting member with respect to the optical system supporting member, whereby the sample is scanned two-dimensionally with the light spot.

Provided are an inkjet printing apparatus and inkjet printing method that can, regardless of an ejection frequency of a print head, stabilize density of an image expressed on a print medium. For this purpose, an ink concentration integrated value is obtained according to the ejection history of each nozzle so as to be increased by data indicating non-ejection of the nozzle or decreased by data indicating ejection. Then, image data on the target pixel is corrected such that density of the target pixel is further reduced as the pixel is subjected to printing by a nozzle having a higher ink concentration integrated value.

The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus that forms an image by consecutively superposing toner images that have been formed on a plurality of photosensitive drums, on an intermediate transfer member or a transfer medium. The image forming apparatus is made compact and operates at a low cost. Since a current supply member supplies a current in a rotational direction of an intermediate transfer belt, multiple first transfer portions do not need corresponding voltage sources. Even in the case where a charging member supplies a current, the potential of the intermediate transfer belt is maintained at a predetermined potential by a constant-voltage element connected to support rollers.
