Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may determine a default operating mode based on the geographic location (e.g., zone) of the base station, for user equipment (UEs) operating in that zone to use. The operating mode may be a full duplex (FD) operating mode or a half duplex (HD) operating mode. A UE operating in the zone may receive, from the base station, an indication of the default operating mode corresponding to the zone, and may select an operating mode based on the indication. The mode selected by the UE may be the same as or different than the indicated default operating mode. For example, the UE may determine to use either FD mode or HD mode based on operation parameters, interference measurements, signaling from a base station or other UEs, one or more measurement thresholds, or some combination thereof.

Abstract: Wireless communication systems and methods related to sidelink communications are provided. A first user equipment (UE) determines a discontinuous operation configuration that indicates an on-duration period for a sidelink communication and a cycle of discontinuous operation. The first UE communicates with at least one other UE during the on-duration period indicated by the discontinuous operation configuration. The first UE uses a base configuration and an on-duration parameter, an offset parameter, and a cycle parameter to determine a discontinuous operation configuration for the first UE.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for a vehicle user equipment (VUE) to obtain extrinsic information about an object or location. The VUE may transmit a request for information about the object or the location to a road side unit (RSU). The RSU may receive the request and determine a set of extrinsic information for the first UE regarding the object or the location based on a set of information from one or more other UEs. The extrinsic information includes information that is not provided by the VUE. The RSU may transmit the set of extrinsic information to the VUE. The VUE may determine whether to accept a feature of the object or the location in the extrinsic information based on the set of extrinsic information and a set of intrinsic information detected by the VUE, The VUE may select an autonomous driving action based on the accepted feature.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE), may receive, at a processing layer of the UE, sets of discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle parameters from a corresponding set of applications at an application layer of the UE. The UE may determine, based on the sets of DRX parameters, a common DRX cycle to satisfy each of the sets of applications. The UE may transmit the common DRX cycle to one or more layers in the user plane protocol stack of the UE. A base station may also receive a request, from the UE, for a set of DRX cycle parameters that satisfies the common DRX cycle of the UE. The base station may transmit an indication of the set of DRX parameters, and receive, from the UE, a confirmation of a DRX cycle associated with the set of DRX cycle parameters.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a vulnerable road user (VRU) user equipment (UE) indicates to a user whether a current position accuracy is sufficient or insufficient for approaching vehicles to determine if they present a hazard to the VRU. The position accuracy may be based on an accuracy threshold that is configured at the UE, such as by a serving base station or a road side unit (RSU). The accuracy threshold may be configured via common or dedicated signaling, through application-layer signaling, or may be pre-configured in the UE. When the VRU UE position accuracy exceeds the specified threshold for a particular interval of time, the UE may inform the user that approaching vehicles will be unable to determine their location with enough accuracy to take evasive maneuvers.

A user equipment (UE) (e.g., a vehicle, low-power sensor) may identify that the UE satisfies a set of conditions for a stationary state. The stationary state may be associated with a configuration for transmitting a position message (e.g., a basic safety message (BSM)) while the UE satisfies the stationary state. The UE may identify a periodicity at which to transmit the position message based on the UE satisfying the set of conditions for the stationary state, where the periodicity associated with a stationary state may be larger than a periodicity associated with a non-stationary state. The UE may transmit (e.g., broadcast) the position message over a sidelink in accordance with the configuration and based on identifying that the UE satisfies the set of conditions for the stationary state.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described to support security techniques for ranging in wireless networks. A first device may transmit an indication to initiate a ranging procedure with a second device, and in response to the indication, the second device may transmit signaling to the first device and to one or more third devices. The first device and the one or more third devices may each determine a respective location metric associated with the second device based on the signaling. The one or more third devices may each transmit, to the first device, the respective location metric. Based on the communicated location metric(s), the first device may determine whether an eavesdropper is present and may communicate with the second device based on the determination.
