Abstract:
A slotted message access protocol can be implemented for transmitting messages in a communication network. A beacon period may be divided into multiple communication slots. A master network device may register a first client network device and provide registration information to the first client network device. The registration information may include one or more encryption keys to allow the first client network device to securely transmit messages in the communication network. The client network device may use an encryption key associated with a second client network device to decrypt messages received from the second client network device. Furthermore, the first client network device may use a contention-based communication slot to request allocation of contention-free communication slots for subsequent transmissions. The master network device may temporarily allocate contention-free communication slots to the client network device for a specified duration.
Abstract:
A slotted message access protocol can be implemented for transmitting messages in a communication network. A beacon period may be divided into multiple communication slots. A master device may register a client device and provide registration information to allow the client device to operate in the communication network. The registration information may be determined based, at least in part, on a location of the client device in the communication network. As part of the registration information, contention-free communication slots may be assigned for use by the client device. Contention-based communication slots may also be assigned to a group of client devices. Messages may also be segmented depending on whether the message is transmitted in a contention-free or a contention-based communication slot. Furthermore, a relay device may be designated to retransmit a message (received from an original transmitting device) during a communication slot assigned to the original transmitting device.
Abstract:
Channel reuse may be used so that multiple networks may communicate via a shared powerline communication (PLC) medium. In a PLC network that supports different transmission modes, channel reuse may be improved by determining signal performance metrics associated with the different transmission modes. A transmission mode may be selected to facilitate channel reuse of the PLC medium by the local network and neighbor network. A first device and a second device may belong to a local network that shares the PLC medium with a neighbor network. The transmission mode may be selected based on interference and signal measurements at one or more receivers of the second device. The transmission mode may be selected from a group comprising a 2-stream multi-input multi-output (MIMO) eigen-beamforming transmission mode, a 1-stream MIMO spot-beamforming transmission mode, and a 1-stream single-input-single-output (SISO) transmission mode.
Abstract:
The present application relates generally to wireless communications, and more specifically to systems, methods, and devices for deferral based on transmission opportunity (TXOP) information. One aspect of the present disclosure provides An apparatus configured to wirelessly communicate. The apparatus includes a processing system configured to obtain a deferral-related parameter from a packet transmitted on a shared wireless access medium and decide whether to defer transmission on the shared wireless access medium based, at least in part, on the at least one deferral-related parameter.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and apparatuses are described for communicating among stations in a network. A station in the network can determine costs between that station and a headend through a number of other stations. The station can select a low cost path from among the possible paths. Cost data from the determination can be transmitted from the station to other stations in the network for use in selecting low cost paths at those stations.
Abstract:
A method includes determining, at a first transmitter, a clear channel access (CCA) threshold associated with reuse of a first transmit opportunity (TXOP) of a message. The method further includes sending, from the first transmitter to a first receiver, at least a portion of the message, wherein the portion of the message indicates the CCA threshold.
Abstract:
A method includes determining a signal strength value for a first received signal received from a first station in a first network. The first received signal is received in the first network through a shared communication medium that is shared with a second network. The method includes receiving an indicator of a signal strength value determined for a second received signal from a second station in the second network. Based on the signal strength value for the first received signal and based on the indicator of the signal strength value determined for the second received signal, a detection threshold is selected such that, in response to a third received signal having a signal strength in excess of the detection threshold, the third received signal is processed according to a protocol of the first network and is not processed according to a protocol of the second network.
Abstract:
A method includes determining that a first station has been allocated a first time period to transmit over a shared medium in a network. The method includes transmitting, from the first station to a second station over the shared medium during the first time period, wherein stations other than the first station and the second station refrain from transmitting over the shared medium during the first time period. The method includes receiving, from the second station, a request message to allow the second station to transmit during the first time period and a requested amount of time to transmit. The method includes, in response to allowing the second station to transmit during the first time period, determining an authorized amount of time for the second station to transmit during the first time period, and transmitting an authorization message for the second station to transmit and the authorized amount of time.
Abstract:
This disclosure provides systems, methods, apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media that support station performance enhancement with multi-link operations. An example method may include determining at least one network metric related to at least one link between a station (STA) and access points (APs) and determining at least one connection parameter related to at least one application operating on the STA. The method may include selecting a mode of multi-link operations based at least in part on the network metric and the connection parameter, wherein the mode of multi-link operations comprises one or more of: a multi-link mode in which the STA operates over a first link and a second link at a same time or a single-link mode in which the STA operates over one of the first or second links and communicating with the one or more APs according to the selected mode.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques that may allow a device participating in a setup procedure to efficiently propose a range of values for a negotiated parameter. The techniques may reduce setup time, for example, allowing a responder to accept a value within the proposed range which may eliminate overhead associated with some of the back and forth message exchange of typical negotiations.
