    Abstract: Provided are a communication method and system that integrate 5G communication systems with IoT technologies to support higher data rates after 4G systems. The present disclosure is based on 5G communication technologies and IoT related technologies, and may be applied to intelligent services such as smart homes, smart buildings, smart cities, smart or connected cars, health care, digital education, retail, and security and safety.The present disclosure relates to a method and apparatus for reducing power consumption in an electronic device supporting machine type communication. There is provided a method of signal processing for an electronic device in a mobile communication system. The method may include: obtaining repetition level information for signal reception; determining a decoding start point and decoding period; and making, if the decoding start point arrives, an attempt to decode the repeatedly received signal at every decoding period on the basis of the repetition level information.

    Abstract: A method by a wireless local area network (WLAN) termination (WT) node in a second radio access technology (RAT) is provided. The method includes receiving, from a base station in a first RAT, a WT addition request message including quality of service (QoS) parameters for at least one bearer; identifying access category information for the at least one bearer, based on the QoS parameters received from the base station; transmitting, to the base station, a WT addition request acknowledge message including an identity of admitted bearer among the at least one bearer and access category information of the admitted bearer based on the admitted bearer being an uplink bearer, the access category information of the admitted bearer being forwarded from the base station to a terminal; and receiving, from the terminal, data based on the access category information.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a communication system and technique that may be applied to intelligent services based on a 5G communication technology and an IoT-related technology. The present disclosure provides a method for data transmission of a terminal in a wireless communication system that includes inputting a packet data convergence protocol packet data unit (PDCP PDU) output from a PDCP entity to a first radio link control (RLC) entity and a second RLC entity. The method also includes inputting a first radio link control packet data unit (RLC PDU) output from the first RLC entity and a second RLC PDU output from the second RLC entity to a medium access control (MAC) entity and transmitting a medium access control packet data unit (MAC PDU) output from the MAC entity through a first physical layer (PHY) entity and a second physical layer entity.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5th Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. A cell selection/re-selection method and an apparatus adapted thereto is provided. The cell selection method of a terminal includes: receiving, from a base station, first maximum power information, PEMAX1 and second maximum power information, PEMAX2, related to maximum transmission power levels of the terminal on the uplink; calculating a compensation parameter, Pcompensation, related to uplink transmission power of the terminal, using the first maximum power information and the second maximum power information; calculating a cell selection reception level value, Srxlev, using the compensation parameter; and selecting a cell based on the calculated cell selection reception level value.
