    摘要: An inverter includes an input inverter having a high-resistance load and a first transistor and an output buffer including second and third transistors coupled in series. A power supply voltage is provided to satisfy an inequality VDD1>VDD2+Vth where VDD1 is the power supply voltage of the input inverter, VDD2 is the power supply voltage of the output buffer, and Vth is the threshold voltage of the transistors. Use of the high-resistance load allows an output waveform to rise and fall quickly, as well as reduces current consumption.

    摘要: A display device has a driver including a level converter formed of polysilicon MISTFTs. The level converter includes first, second and third N-channel MISTFTs (NMISTFTs) and first, second and third P-channel MISTFTs (PMISTFTs). Gate and first terminals of the first NMISTFT and PMISTFT, and a gate terminal of the third PMISTFT are coupled to an input terminal via a capacitance. Second terminals of the second NMISTFT and PMISTFT, and a gate terminal of third NMISTFT are coupled to the input terminal via a capacitance. A first terminal of the third PMISTFT, and second terminals of the first NMISTFT and PMISTFT are coupled to a high voltage.     摘要: A display device for use in compact portable devices is configured for assigning gray levels according to the pixel area ratio and, further includes a digital-to-analog (D-A) conversion circuit for converting digital data to gray-level voltage or analog signals. This configuration reduces the size of the circuit for D-A conversion, thus reducing the space for the driving circuit when assigning gray levels according to the pixel area ratio. The combination of the gray-level voltage output from the driving circuit and the gray-level assignment according to the pixel area ratio reduces the scale of the circuit.

    摘要: A pixel is formed by sealing an insulating liquid and floating particles in an area defined by a first substrate, a second substrate and partitions. The width of the partition has to be reduced in order to improve the pixel brightness by enlarging a flat electrode. In this case, the height of the partition has to be reduced for retaining the mechanical strength. If the height of the partition is reduced, an area of the partition electrode becomes small, thus failing to retain the memory effect. The planar surface of the partition is then formed into a zigzag shape so as to increase the area of the partition electrode.
