    摘要: To measure a receptor-mediated increase in intracellular calcium concentration, use is made of a calcium-responding luminescent protein localized in the cytoplasm or mitochondria and a reporter gene having a promoter responding to the second messenger in cells and Renilla-origin luciferase attached to the downstream thereof. By using a coelenterazine derivative, which can exist in the cells in a stable state over a long time, as the substrate of these proteins, a transient increase in the intracellular calcium concentration observed within several seconds is measured by using the calcium-responding luminescent protein. Subsequently, the cells are allowed to survive and cultured for several hours as such without adding a fresh substrate. During this period, an increase/decrease in the gene expression is continuously monitored by the reporter assay method and it is measured and evaluated, if necessary, whether or not the inhibition of the activity is caused by cytotoxicity.

    摘要: A heat exchanger which has i) a fin material comprising a triple-layer clad material constituted of a core material composed of an aluminum alloy containing from 0.5 to 1.8% by weight of Mn and from 0.5 to 3.0% by weight of Zn and, provided on both sides of the core material, a brazing filler material composed of an Al—Si alloy containing from 6.5 to 13.0% by weight of Si and from 0.15 to 0.60% by weight of Cu and ii) an aluminum alloy tube having a Zn concentrated surface; the both having been brazed with each other; wherein, after brazing, recrystallized grains of the core material have an average length of from 100 to 1,000 μm in the lengthwise section of a fin and the recrystallized grains of the core material are 4 or less in average number in the thickness direction of that lengthwise section. This heat exchanger is improved in the durability of fin joints and fins themselves and their strength after corrosion.

    摘要: A device which improves the starting of a high pressure discharge lamp containing a large amount of mercury, in which the amount of mercury adhering to the lamp electrodes is not the same, by shortening the formation time of the glow discharge in order to reduce the sputtering of the electrodes to a minimum. When the discharge lamp starts, an AC voltage with rectangular waves produced by the full bridge circuit is applied to the discharge lamp. Next, a high voltage pulse is superimposed and applied by an igniter device; the pulse is synchronized to the polarity of the above described AC voltage with rectangular waves. As a result, an alternating current discharge is started in the discharge lamp. Then, the ON/OFF state of the switching devices in the full bridge circuit is fixed and a direct current voltage is applied to the lamp. After a pre-selected time has expired after the transition into direct current operation, the full bridge circuit is operated such that rectangular alternating current waves form. The AC voltage with rectangular waves is then applied to the discharge lamp and a transition into steady-state operation is carried out.
