A ceramic coating layer which is not less than 70 .mu.m in the maximum height Rmax of its profile curves and not less than 45 .mu.m in the 10-point average roughness, or which is less than 650 HV in Vickers hardness is provided on a metallic substrate. A heat-resistant member of such composition is excellent in thermal fatigue resistance and keeps an excellent heat resistance for a long period of time. Quality of a heat-resistant member is evaluated by, measuring at least one of roughness and hardness of a ceramic coating layer on a metallic substrate. According to this method, it is possible to easily and accurately evaluate a thermal resistant life of a heat-resistant member.

A nonaqueous electrolyte battery includes a negative electrode and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The negative electrode comprises an active material having a lithium ion insertion potential of 0.4V (vs Li/Li+) or more, a conductive agent and a current collector. The nonaqueous electrolyte contains first sultones having an unsaturated hydrocarbon group. A diameter distribution of pores of the negative electrode when measured by mercury porosimetry has a first peak having a mode diameter of 0.01 to 0.2 μm and a second peak having a mode diameter of 0.003 to 0.02 μm. A volume of pores having a diameter of 0.01 to 0.2 μm and a volume of pores having a diameter of 0.003 to 0.02 μm, which are measured by the mercury porosimetery, are 0.05 to 0.5 mL and 0.0001 to 0.02 mL, respectively, per g of the negative electrode excluding the current collector.

Disclosed is a method for producing a heat insulating laminate structure having an excellent solar radiation shielding capability as well as an excellent radio wave transparency. The method includes placing a transparent laminate film between two transparent substrates, the transparent laminate film having on at least one side of a transparent polymer film a laminated layer structure in which a metal oxide layer containing an organic component and a metal layer are laminated and grooves having widths of 30 μm or less are formed with dividing the metal layer; bonding the two substrates to each other through the transparent laminate film under application of a pressure; and promoting division of the metal layer in the transparent laminate film by the applied pressure to increase an overall surface resistance.
