    摘要: A lubricating oil discharge port is provided that is improved so well that a quick supply of lubricating oil is not disturbed and that film lubrication is not lost when the engine is started. The lubricating oil discharge port 18a for allowing lubricating oil to flow out of a lubricating oil passage 18 in which an oil pressure source is provided at a lower portion thereof into a bearing bore 12 for a camshaft 10 of an engine is made to open in a top surface of a boss 19 provided so as to protrude from a bottom of a recessed well 15 acting as a lubricating oil reservoir provided in an inner circumferential surface on a lower side of the camshaft bearing bore. With this construction, the level of lubricating oil retained in the recessed well formed in the lower side of the bearing hole can be raised considerably high, and therefore even in an operating condition where the discharge pressure of an oil pump is not sufficiently increased resulting immediately the engine is started, the lubrication of the camshaft can be effected with lubricating oil retained in the lubricating oil reservoir.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine intake valve operating mechanism for two intake valves having a separate driving rocker arm for each valve and two free rocker arms not connected to the intake valves. In a low-speed operating range, the driving rocker arms are in their disconnecting states from the free rocker arms, so that both intake valves are opened and closed by a second cam and a fourth cam. In a medium-speed operating range, the first free rocker arm and the first driving rocker arm are interconnected, so that one of the intake valves is opened and closed by a first cam and the other intake valve continues to be opened and closed by the fourth cam. In a high-speed operating range, the first driving rocker arm, the second free rocker arm and the second driving rocker arm are connected to one another, so that both the intake valves are opened and closed by a third cam. This reduces the equivalent inertial mass during connection of rocker arms and enables an increase in output and a reduction in fuel consumption in an internal combustion engine operating in multi-stages depending upon operating conditions of the engine.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine includes a cylinder block having a cylinder bore, a cylinder head having a combustion chamber communicating with the cylinder bore, a spark plug supported in the cylinder head and having electrodes disposed in the combustion chamber, two first valves supported on the cylinder head and having valve heads disposed in one side of the combustion chamber, and two second valves supported on the cylinder head and having valve heads disposed in an opposite side of the combustion chamber. A valve operating mechanism associated with the internal combustion engine comprises a camshaft rotatably mounted on the cylinder head and engaging the first valves for operating the first valves, a rocker arm holder mounted on the cylinder head, a rocker arm shaft or shafts disposed between the camshaft and the second valves and rotatably supported by the rocker arm holder, and two rocker arms swingably mounted on the rocker arm shaft or shafts and held in engagement with the camshaft and the second valves for operating the second valves. The rocker arm holder is disposed above the cylinder bore in substantial central alignment therewith, the rocker arm holder having a plug insertion hole for insertion of the spark plug therethrough.

    摘要: An engine valve operating system is provided in which one end of a first link arm (61) turnably supported at a fixed position of an engine body and the other end of a second link arm (62) turnably supported by a displaceable movable shaft (68a) are turnably connected to a rocker arm (63) which has a cam abutting portion (65) abutting against a valve operating cam (69) and is interlocked and connected so as to apply a force in a valve opening direction to an engine valve (19) biased by a valve spring (24) in a valve closing direction. A rocker arm biasing spring (54) which is different from the valve spring (24) biases the rocker arm (63) in a direction in which the cam abutting portion (65) abuts against the valve operating cam (69). This ensures follow-up ability of the opening/closing operations and enables a reduction in the size of the system, while allowing the lift amount of the engine valve to vary continuously. It is also possible to improve the accuracy with which the lift amount is controlled when the engine valve is to be slightly opened.

Lubricating oil is thereby enabled to be easily used for exhaust valve operating device after being used for lubrication and cooling of the intake valve operating device, thus achieving efficient lubrication and cooling of the exhaust valve operating device.
