摘要: Disclosed herein are a method and apparatus for efficiently processing workpieces which are developed using a liquid developer. According to the invention a first set of workpieces is obtained from an imaging station, a second set of workpieces is obtained from a workpiece collection device, and the workpieces from the first and second sets are aligned in a contiguous arrangement, with the workpieces from the first set preferably being interspersed with those from the second set. Developer is then applied to the group of contiguous workpleces, thereby reducing the amount of overrun or overspray of developer that would otherwise result from individual processing of workpieces. The invention is particularly well-suited for use in preparing lithographic printing plates.

摘要: An apparatus for operating a fluid dispensing gun to dispense a fluid onto a substrate moving relative to the dispensing gun. The apparatus has a sensor that produces a sensor feedback signal in response to the fluid dispensing gun changing operating states. A control is connected to the sensor and provides first signals causing the fluid dispensing gun to change operating states. The control has a detector producing a compensation signal representing a difference between the occurrences of one of said first signals and the sensor feedback signal. The control then adjusts a subsequent first signal in response to the compensation signal. Thus, the control automatically compensates the operation of the fluid dispensing gun in real time for changes in the switching time of the fluid dispensing gun required to change its operating states.

摘要: A film coating apparatus has a nozzle body and a coating material spreading element having an injection hole communicated with the inside of the nozzle body, and formed integrally with the nozzle body. The apparatus further has a rotation support element and a fixing element for rotatably supporting both ends of a piston for a fixed displacement swash plate type compressor and a pair of first coating material applying elements moveably installed above the rotation support element. The first coating material applying elements have a pair of first nozzles which apply coating material in uniform thickness to circumferential outer surfaces of both head parts of the piston. A second coating material applying element is installed above the fixing element such that it can be moved upward and downward and slid laterally to apply coating material in uniform thickness to a bridge part of the piston.

摘要: An apparatus for monitoring an operation of a fluid dispensing gun dispensing a pattern of fluid onto a substrate moving with respect to the dispensing gun. The dispensing gun changes operating states in response to transition signals. A sensor is disposed adjacent the substrate and provides feedback signals in response to detecting edges of the fluid dispensed onto the substrate. A diagnostic monitor is responsive to the transition and feedback signals and automatically measures delays between occurrences of the transition signals and detecting corresponding edges of the fluid deposited onto the substrate resulting from the transition signals. The delays are measured by correlating the feedback signals to the transition signals. A method for measuring the delays is also described and claimed.

摘要: An apparatus and a method for applying a substance to a web is provided. The apparatus includes a substance and a valve for dispensing a known amount of substance from the valve. A substance supply is in communication with the valve for supplying the substance to the valve. A fluid pressure source is present and is in communication with the valve. The fluid pressure source delivers fluid pressure to the valve to actuate the valve in order to dispense a known amount of the substance from the valve. Also, the valve dispenses the substance at a rate in response to the speed of the web so that a substantially uniform amount of the substance is applied to the web.

摘要: A system for dispensing a viscous material onto a substrate which includes a dispensing element, a viscous material reservoir and a metering device coupled between the reservoir and the dispensing element for metering a variable amount of a viscous material through the dispensing element. The dispensing element and metering device can be moved by a positioner along a predetermined pattern adjacent a surface of a substrate. A weigh scale located adjacent the substrate receives a metered amount of the viscous material and produces signals representative of a variable weight of the material dispensed during a predetermined time interval. A controller adjusts a speed of movement of the positioner along the predetermined pattern to cause the dispensing element to dispense a desired amount of material based on a calculated flow rate. Alternatively, the controller adjusts a rate of delivery of the metering device based on the calculated flow rate to cause the dispensing element to dispense the desired amount of material along the predetermined pattern. Closed loop temperature control may be provided for the dispensing element and/or the substrate to ensure a substantially constant viscosity and a substantially constant flow rate. A prime and purge station may be provided adjacent the substrate for sucking air bubbles from the dispensing element and metering device.

摘要: A fluid dispenser dispenses a fluid alternately from one of a pair of ports (29,31) that are provided on opposite ends of a syringe (26) by moving a piston (42) back and forth inside the syringe. A pair of stirrers (47,48) are provided in the syringe on opposite axial sides of the piston. The stirrers may each individually rotate on an axis that extends in parallel with the moving direction of the piston. A pair of stirrer driving rings (49,50) are mounted on an outer periphery of the syringe in correspondence with the stirrers. Magnets (55,56,59,60) are embedded in the stirrers and the stirrer driving rings such that the stirrer is rotated by magnetic fields that are generated from the stirrer driving ring, as the stirrer driving ring is rotated by a motor (51,52).

摘要: A coating apparatus including a slit die 4 for applying a liquid to a surface of a resin film. The slit die 4 ha a die body which is rotatable between an operating position whereat an injection nozzle 13a of the slit die 13 faces a back-up roller 2 for feeding the resin film 50 and a rest position where the nozzle 13a is spaced from the resin film or foil 50. A cleaning device is provided having a roll 40 of a cleaning sheet 41, a take-up roller 23 for taking up the cleaning sheet, and a cleaning roller 24, on which the cleaning sheet moves. The cleaning sheet 41 on the cleaning roller 24 faces the injection nozzle 13a of the slit die when the latter is in its rest position for executing a cleaning operation. After an application of the liquid to a front surface of the resin film, the liquid is also applied to a rear surface of the film, so that the applied layers 50a on the front surface are registered with the applied layers 50b on the rear surface. Sensors 38 and 39 are provided for detecting ends of the layers 50a and 50b, so that a positional deviation, measured between the layers 50a and 50b, is used for correction of the timing of an application and interruption of the feed of the liquid to the rear surface, thereby maintaining a registration of the applied layers 60a and 60b between the front and rear surfaces of the resin film.

摘要: A roll coating machine for applying liquid materials onto sheet material workpieces. The machine has particular application in the area of coating flexible foam sheets with stiffening or adhesive agents. The roll coater incorporates mechanisms for controlling the spacing between coating rollers which apply the liquid materials onto one or both sides of the workpiece and enables automatic adjustment for various thickness of material. Automatic adjustment is provided through accurate force balancing of one of the rollers and applying a highly controlled net force acting on the rollers such that the rollers self-adjust based on compression of the workpiece. Another mechanism provided in the machine of this invention incorporates pre-gauging and a cam adjustment mechanism for setting separation distance which can be used independently or in conjunction with a force balancing approach mentioned previously.
