摘要: There is described a salt bath based on an alkali and/or alkaline earth metal halide with which there can be produced without the use of current adherent and wear resistant boride coatings on metallic workpieces. This bath contains gaseous boron monofluoride or a compound from which there is formed intermediately boron monofluoride. Advantageous there is used a salt bath containing 30-60% BaCl.sub.2, 10-25% NaCl, 1-20% boron oxide or borate, 10-30% NaF, and 1-15% B.sub.4 C.

摘要: Decontamination of hardening salt residues is accomplished by treating the large pieces broken and slurried in water with an iron-II-chloride solution equivalent to the cyanide portion at a pH of 7-14, in the presence of at least the equivalent amount of alkali carbonate corresponding to the alkaline earth present, wherein the alkali carbonate does not exceed 30% based on the contaminated hardening salt residue.

摘要: A metal workpiece, such as a wheel, and a method of providing an enhanced corrosion resistant surface coating on an exposed surface of a metal or alloy substrate (such as magnesium). A corrosion resistance basecoat is formed, including generating an oxide layer, and applying a first primer coating onto at least a portion of the oxide layer. The method may further include identifying highest corrosion prone areas on the substrate and designing a support rack that avoids contact with these corrosion prone areas. The method also includes forming a topcoat over at least a portion of the basecoat, by applying a second primer coating onto at least a portion of the first primer coating and depositing a sputtered metallic film onto the second primer coating using a physical vapor deposition technique. A clear coat layer may be applied over the metallic film.

The outermost coating film among the coating films is configured of a polyester, and contains particles that contain a coloring pigment. The particles have a D90 of from 0.05 μm to 0.70 μm, and the content of the particles in the outermost coating film is from 10% by mass to 60% by mass.
