Abstract:
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, identifying a request to record video content at a multimedia storage device, wherein the video content corresponds to a program having a scheduled broadcast time that occurs during a peak viewing period. Data is obtained to prevent viewing of the video content prior to the broadcast time. The video content, responsive to the identifying of the request, is sent selectively to the multimedia storage device during a non-peak viewing period prior to the peak viewing period. The video content includes the data to prevent the multimedia storage device from sending the video content to another device prior to the time when the program is scheduled to be broadcast. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
Media content, based on a predetermined set of constraints, from a content provider is delivered to a local cache of a user device before viewing the media. A client asset manager process resides in the user device, an asset list at the content provider site, and the media assets are located at a remote site.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for conserving bandwidth within a network based on two or more different service levels. In an exemplary embodiment, programming that is simulcast on two or more program channels is mapped to one physical channel during periods when the programming is scheduled at only one service level (e.g., standard definition), thereby conserving bandwidth on the network that would otherwise be consumed by the simultaneous broadcast on the two or more channels. When the programming service level becomes heterogeneous across the channels (e.g., SD and HD simulcast), physical channel(s) supporting the HD content are provided within a local service area only “on-demand” using, for example, a switched digital channel allocation. Accordingly, no HD broadcast occurs within a given area until at least one user requests it, thereby further conserving network bandwidth.
Abstract:
A method for realizing video live broadcast, includes: receiving a request for creating conversation from a user equipment, the request carrying indication information for identifying video live broadcast BTV service packet, the BTV packet includes several channel program with the same authorization attribute and the same accounting attribute; sending BTV service control information corresponding to BTV service packet to a network marginal equipment corresponding to the user equipment UE; creating the conversation between a IPTV server and the user equipment UE according to the request; sending the channel program that the UE need access to the UE according to the BTV service control information. Corresponding equipment and system also are provided. The invention can ensure flexible authorization and accounting capability, meanwhile it also ensure the user can switch channel quickly according to the present invention.
Abstract:
Provided are a method and a device for providing a selection of video, which belong to the field of Internet technology. The method comprises: for an arbitrary video, acquiring a characteristic identification of the video; determining m videos with the same characteristic identification, which includes at least two types of videos, where m≧2, wherein the at least two types of videos comprise any two or all of types of online video, offline video, and live video; and providing a list of the selection of video according to the m videos. Problems in the related art, that playing and selecting of only a single type of multi-episode video, switching between different types of videos requiring a large amounts of additional operations and influencing of video fluency when a user views the video, may be solved.
Abstract:
A method for managing a playback of contents in an electronic device is provided. The method includes recognizing a major section of the contents, obtaining at least one of setup information related a network speed, data remaining amount and playback, and playback time of the contents, and deciding a playback policy of the contents based on at least one of the recognized major section and the obtained information.
Abstract:
In one aspect, the teachings herein address the changing network capacity requirements that arise in electronic conferencing systems not hosted in a fully dedicated network using a clever prioritization scheme that is determined in view of which source streams (26) available in the electronic conference are being used by respective conference clients (22) and how they are being used by those clients (22). In one non-limiting example, the electronic conference is a video conference managed by an electronic conferencing server (10) in a host network (20).
Abstract:
An approach for implementing a content provisioning platform for accurate provisioning of one or more dynamic multicast data channels (e.g., eMBMS) for initiating multicast transmission of contents. The approach includes analyzing content usage data to determine content consumption trend data associated with a topic in a service area. The approach also includes selecting a content package based on the topic, the content consumption trend data, or a combination thereof. Additionally, the approach includes provisioning a dynamic multicast data channel for initiating a multicast transmission of the content package to a plurality of devices in the service area.
Abstract:
Provided are a fusion device, system and method for implementing an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) service. The fusion device integrates a Content Delivery Network (CDN) component and a network component. The CDN component receives a media service request initiated by a Set Top Box (STB), searches in a service policy template database for a service policy template matching a service type carried by the request, initiate a network support request to the network component, and uses the service policy template to provide a service for the STB after receiving a success response message fed back by the network component; and the network component searches in a network policy template database for a network policy template matching a service policy after receiving the network support request, executes the network policy template, feeds back a success response message when the execution succeeds, and uses the network policy template to provide a network resource support for the CDN component. The disclosure fuses a content delivery function and a network service function, which effectively ensures service quality of the IPTV service.
