    摘要: An isotropic polyester polymer and method for making the polyester is prepared by (1) combining in a reactor a monomer containing a terephthaloyl moiety; optionally, one or more other monomers containing an aromatic diacid moiety; a monomer comprising an ethylene glycol moiety; a monomer containing an isosorbide moiety; optionally, one or more other monomers containing a diol moiety; and optionally, a monomer containing a diethylene glycol moiety; with a condensation catalyst suitable for condensing aromatic diacids and glycols; and (2) heating the monomers and catalyst to polymerize the monomers to yield a polyester having an inherent viscosity of at least about 0.35 dL/g.

    摘要: A process for producing a polyethylene terephthalate in which the amount of the oligomers, such as cyclic trimer etc., is lower and which causes metal mold staining to occur difficultly. The process comprises an esterification stage in which dicarboxylicacids including mainly terephthalic acid or ester-forming derivatives of such acids are esterified with glycols including mainly ethylene glycol or with ester-forming derivatives of such glycols; a liquid phase polycondensation stage in which the esterified product obtained in the esterification stage is subjected to a polycondensation in a liquid phase containing a polycondensation catalyst and having a content of an alkaline solubilizing agent of 0.4 mole or less per mole of the polycondensation catalyst with heating; a solid phase polycondensation stage in which the polycondensation product obtained in the liquid phase polycondensation stage is heated at a temperature below the melting point of the product in an inert atmosphere; and an aqua-treatment stage in which the polycondensation catalyst is deactivated by contacting the polycondensation product obtained in the solid phase polycondensation stage with water. The polyethylene terephthalate obtained by this process is suitable as the material for containers to be charged with drinks.

    摘要: A system for the solid phase polymerization of polymers wherein cold amorphous polymer is introduced to a crystallizer and heated to crystallize the polymer, the crystallized polymer is discharged to a reactor to achieve polymerization of the polymer, and the hot polymer product of the reactor is discharged to a fluid bed cooler for cooling of the polymerized product. The fluid bed cooler includes an inlet for the hot polymer and an inlet for the cooling gas, and the cooled polymer and the heated gas are discharged from the cooler after contact of the gas with the polymer. The cooler includes a bed portion through which the polymer moves while in contact with the cooling gas, and an upper chamber which collects the heated gas. The temperature of the polymer gradually decreases from the location of the inlet for the polymer to the location of the discharge for the polymer, and the gas in the upper chamber is hotter in the area of the upper chamber adjacent the inlet for the hot polymer than in the area of the upper chamber adjacent the discharge location of the cooled polymer. At least two outlets are defined by the upper chamber and a weir baffle is used to separate an upper chamber zone containing the hotter gas from the balance of the upper chamber. Hotter gas is then discharged to the reactor through an outlet communicating with the upper chamber zone containing the hotter gas.
