Abstract: A washing machine appliance and methods of operating a washing machine appliance are provided. The washing machine appliance includes a motor and a rotatable basket. The motor is operated to rotate the basket to a first speed. The basket is then decelerated from the first speed to a second speed less than the first speed. A deceleration time is determined while decelerating the basket from the first speed to the second speed. The method may include, or the washing machine appliance may be configured for, determining a size of a load of articles in the basket of the washing machine appliance based on the deceleration time. Based on the determined size of the load, one or more operating parameters of the washing machine appliance are selected and an operation of the washing machine appliance is performed according to the one or more selected operating parameters.

Abstract: A laundry washing machine and method of operating same for the purpose of automatically determining a soil level of a laundry load from two turbidity readings taken before a washing cycle commences, such as during a pre-wash, filling phase. The machine is configured to detect a load size, add a first amount of water and take a first turbidity reading. A first dose of detergent is then added, a second amount of water added and the wetted load is gently tumbled/agitated before taking a second turbidity reading. A value based upon a ratio of the turbidity readings can determine the soil level of the load in order to choose a wash-related parameter, such as how much detergent to use for the subsequent complete wash cycle and/or the duration thereof.

Abstract: A disclosed dryer includes a receptacle configured to contain material to be dried, an air duct configured to route recirculating air and/or fresh air to the receptacle, a heating device configured to heat the recirculating air, and at least one sensor. The sensor is configured to determine a relative humidity and/or temperature, and the air duct includes at least one adjusting element configured to modify a portion of recirculating air routed to the receptacle. The dryer further includes a control or regulating device configured to control or regulate the portion of recirculating air routed to the receptacle and/or a heating capacity of the heating device during a drying process. A disclosed method includes controlling a portion of recirculating air routed to the receptacle and/or a heating capacity of the heating device. Further, a mixture of recirculating air and fresh air are varied during heat-up, drying, and cool-down phases.

Abstract: A washing machine appliance includes a wash basket that is rotatably mounted within a wash tub and that defines a wash chamber for receiving a load of clothes. A motor assembly is mechanically coupled to the wash basket for selectively rotating the wash basket and a camera assembly is mounted within the cabinet in view of the wash chamber. A controller is configured to obtain a series of image frames using the camera assembly during a wash cycle, identify a tracking point on a clothing article, generate a motion path of the tracking point over the series of image frames using an optical flow technique, estimate a turnover rate of the load of clothes based at least in part on the motion path of the clothing article, and implement responsive action in response to determining that the turnover rate falls below a predetermined threshold rate.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an artificial intelligence washing machine and an operation method thereof. A method of operating a washing machine may comprise estimating, based on a previous setting of a previous washing operation, an estimated setting for a current washing operation, wherein the estimated setting includes a water supply time, a drainage time, and a spin-drying time, obtaining a user input, obtaining an amount of laundry from a weight sensor of the washing machine, determining, based on the estimated setting, the user input, and the amount of laundry, a washing time for the current washing operation and displaying the determined washing time to the user. Accordingly, the estimated washing time is provided with the reflection of data of the washing machine which has been accumulated by the increase of the number of uses, thereby reducing a difference between an actual operating time and the estimated washing time and minimizing the user inconvenience.

Abstract: Systems and methods for improved laundry dosing are provided. An image of a detergent container captured by a user is received. Image recognition is performed on the image of the detergent container to identify a detergent to be used based on shape, color, text, and/or brand logo of the detergent container. Parameters of the detergent are identified based on the image recognition. A dose of the detergent is recommended and/or a controlled release of a dose of the detergent is performed for a laundry cycle of a laundry appliance according to the parameters.

The wireless sensing device includes a sensing module including a humidity sensor for measuring humidity in a drum of a dryer into which the wireless sensing module is thrown; a sensor communication module transmitting or receiving data with a main communication module of the dryer through wireless communication; a sensor controller configured to control the sensor communication module to transmit a humidity value corresponding to an output of the sensing module to the main communication module; and a sensor power supplier supplying power to the sensing module, the sensor communication module, and the sensor controller.
