摘要: For the preparation of high purity glass powder having a mean particle size of .ltoreq.10 .mu.m, glass powder having a larger particle size up to 300 .mu.m is ground to the desired particle size in a stirred mill with glass grinding elements in the presence of a grinding liquid comprising water or preferably a mixture of at least 50% by weight of water and at least one water-soluble, oxygen-containing organic compound having 1 to 5 carbon atoms in the molecule, e.g., tert.-butyl alcohol; the ground slurry is then frozen, and the solvent is subsequently removed from the frozen slurry by freeze-drying. A resultant glass powder with a mean particle size d.sub.50 of 0.5 to 2 .mu.m is particularly suitable as a filler for synthetic resins in the dental sector.

摘要: A process for the production of an alkali dispersion includes charging a mixing vessel with a solid alkali metal, a liquid which is inert to the alkali metal and a grinding media. The vessel is connected to a vibrating driver which is vibrated until the alkali metal is ground by the media finely enough to form a dispersion in the liquid. Preferably the driver is a resonant driver which is vibrated at the resonant frequency of the driver. Mineral oils or other liquids containing organohalides such as PCBs can be used as a liquid which is treated during the grinding by the organohalide reacting with the alkali metal.

摘要: Apparatus for grinding particulate solid material in a substantially dry state, the apparatus comprising, means for introducing particulate solid material into a grinding chamber (4), a perforated base (8) of the grinding chamber (4) through which gas is introduced to provide an upward flow of gas passing through the particulate solid material and an impeller (42) rotating in the grinding chamber (4) to agitate the particulate solid material. The perforated base (8) has a central imperforate area (10) which causes the gas to pass preferentially through the region near the walls of the grinding chamber (4). In addition, a horizontal baffle plate (17) having a central opening (18) is positioned in the grinding chamber (4) at a height above the perforated base (8) which is not greater than one half of the transverse width of the grinding chamber (4). The horizontal baffle plate (17) is provided to prevent the bed of particulate solid material from extending upwards to an undesirable degree near the walls of the grinding chamber (4). The grinding apparatus may be used with advantage in surface treating an inorganic material.

摘要: Apparatus for feeding balls to a grinding mill. The apparatus includes a downwardly inclined chute (12) adapted to receive balls from a bin or hopper, the chute for delivering the balls to the grinding mill and means (20) for sequentially feeding the balls, one-at-a-time, to the grinding mill. The feeding means includes a first actuator (22) and a second actuator (26). Each of the actuators preferably includes an extension arm (24 and 28 respectively) mounted for rotation along the longitudinal axis of the chute. The first actuator is for restraining balls from traveling down the chute and works in conjunction with the second actuator for isolating the lowermost ball in the chute to be fed next to the grinding mill. The second actuator is for releasing the isolated ball. The feeding means may include a computer controller (90) for operating each of the actuators at a predetermined time interval corresponding to the ball attrition rate of the grinding mill. A magnetic sensor (84) may be positioned inside the chute downstream from the actuators for sensing passage of the isolated ball through the chute for providing feedback to the controller.

摘要: The present invention relates to a process for preparing basic aluminum compounds having the general formula (1)[Al.sub.2 (OH).sub.x Cl.sub.y (SO.sub.4).sub.z ].sub.n (1)where:n is at least equal to 1x=2-4.0y=2.0-3.40z=0-0.30andx+y+z=6by means of a reaction of alumina with hydrochloric acid, possibly mixed with sulfuric acid. The alumina is caused to react in alumina/acid(s) stoichiometric conditions to obtain the compounds of formula (1). The reaction is carried out by milling alumina in liquid phase under heavy stirring.

摘要: An apparatus for uniformly feeding grinding balls to a grinding mill. The apparatus includes a ball storage hopper, a regulator and an inclined chute for conveying balls from the hopper to the regulator. The chute includes a panel for controlling the depth of the balls. The regulator includes a discharge drum having a plurality of compartments adapted to receive the balls, an electric motor for rotating the drum, and a means for retaining the balls in the drum. The drum is rotated at a predetermined speed and feeds the balls into a mill at a uniform rate which can be controlled to approximately match the attrition rate of the balls in the mill.

摘要: A cylindrical milling chamber of a disintegrator is made in such a manner that the width thereof is substantially smaller than the diameter. An opening for feeding the material being disintegrated is provided at the center of one of the end walls of the milling chamber, and openings for discharging suspension of the disintegrated material are provided on the cylindrical surface of the milling chamber. At the center of the milling chamber there is provided an agitator for milling bodies mounted concentrically therewith. The milling bodies are made of a material having a density corresponding to the density of suspension of the material being disintegrated. The milling chamber considerably reduces the adverse effects of temperature and pressure on the material being disintegrated, such that overdisintegration of the material is eliminated. At the same time, the specific productivity of the disintegrator is improved by 10.sup.2 times.
