    摘要: A method is disclosed for rendering monochrome or colored continuous tone images by a system having restricted continuous tone rendering capabilities, such as electrographic printers capable of printing more than two density levels on each addressable micro dot. A method for preferred halftone dot growth is described, starting from isolated dots arranged along base lines and auxiliary lines, evolving to high density lines along the base lines and approximating full continuous tone rendition for high density regions. Preferred arrangements for the orientation, spacing and absolute location of the base lines and auxiliary lines are disclosed and a method to generate preferred arrangements. A moire free combination of three halftone images is described for the reproduction of color images. A method to select a restricted set of energy levels to obtain linear reflectance response is disclosed. Halftone cells are arranged in supercells to improve the density resolution of the system.

    摘要: A photographic silver halide material and a method using said material for mammography are disclosed. The photographic material has a large dynamic range and a high contrast, so that lesions deep in the glandular tissue are accurately detected, and also clearly depicts thin tissue such as the skin line of the breast. The sensitometric curve of optical density versus logarithmic exposure logE of said photographic material is characterised by (i) an average gradation of at least 3.5 between Dmin+1.0 and Dmin+2.5; and (ii) a local gradient ranging from 0.7 to 1.8 and an optical density not higher than 3.5 at the point where logE equals SP+0.8 (SP being defined as the logE at which the optical density equals Dmin+1.0); and (iii) an optical density of at least 3.7 at the point where logE equals SP+1.3.

A dust shield (14) upstands from the upper face (13) adjacent said powder inlet opening (12). A movable box (16) for accommodating a bag (18) containing powder has an open end (20). Co-operating guides (22, 24) provided respectively on the housing (10) and on the box (16) constrain movement of the box (16) between a first position in which the open end (20) is closed by the dust shield (14) and a second position in which the open end (20) mates with the powder inlet opening (12) to allow powder from the bag (18) to fall through the powder inlet opening (12). Thereby, discharge of the powder contents of a flexible material bag can be achieved in a convenient manner.

    摘要: The present invention provides a negative-working photosensitive imaging element comprising on a hydrophilic surface of a support in the order given (i) a hydrophobic photopolymerizable composition capable of being irradiated with actinic light through the support and/or through the front and containing at least one unsaturated compound with at least one polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated group, at least one hydrophobic thermoplastic polymer and at least one photoinitiator, and (ii) optionally a receptor layer, characterized in that said hydrophobic photopolymerizable composition comprises in the order given (i) a polymerizable layer contiguous to said hydrophilic surface and comprising at least part of said at least one unsaturated compound and (ii) a hydrophobic photosensitive layer contiguous to said polymerizable layer comprising at least part of said at least one hydrophobic thermoplastic polymer and of said at least one photoinitiator.The present invention also provides a method for obtaining a lithographic plate of high quality with said imaging element.
