Abstract:
Multifunctional viscosity index improvers for lubricating oils containing an EPM or EPDM polymer onto which has been grafted an unsaturated reactive monomer and thereafter reacted with amines containing sulfonamide units.
Abstract:
A method has been developed to solubilize hydroxy S-triazines containing at least one hydroxy function in diesel fuel and to enhance their overall thermal stability. The products which result from the full or partial encapsulation of hydroxy-S-triazine with calix[8]arene have unique and novel properties and reduce or eliminate nitrogen oxides level in diesel fuel.
Abstract:
Mixtures of block alkoxy co- or terpolymer hydrocarboxylates and aminopolyazole increase the oxidation and corrosion resistance of lubricants, particularly diesel engine oil.
Abstract:
A method of compatibilization asphaltenes containing bituminous liquids which process comprises:a) reacting an asphaltene with phosphorous trichloride to form a phosphochlorinated asphaltene containing from about 0.01 wt % to about 20 wt % phosphorous;b) reacting the phosphochlorinated asphaltene with an equimolar amount of aliphatic or aromatic amines and polyamines selected from the group consisting of:(i) a piperzine;(ii) an aliphatic amine;(iii) an alkyl piperdize;(iv) an aligomeric mixed polyether aliphatic terminal diamine;(v) an oligomeric polyether aliphatic terminal amine;(vi) an oligermic polyether aliphatic terminal triamine;(vii) a substituted aromatic polyether terminal amine; and(viii) an oligomeric or polymeric amine to produce a capatibilized asphaltene; and(c) recovering the asphaltene product.
Abstract:
An additive composition containing pendant perfluoroaliphatic urethanes within a copolymer prepared from ethylene and propylene or an ethylene-propylene terpolymer containing non-conjugated diene or triene comprising from about 15 to 80 mole percent of ethylene, 85 to 15 mole percent propylene and from about 20 to 85 mole percent of the (C.sub.3 -C.sub.10) alphamonoolefin and having a number average molecular weight ranging from about 5,000 to 500,000 which has been reacted with at least one isocyanoacrylate agent to form one or more acrylating reaction intermediates characterized by having a pendant isocyano function within their structure and reacting said reaction intermediate with a perfluoroaliphatic alcohol and a lubricating oil composition containing same are provided.
Abstract:
An additive composition prepared by the steps comprising:(A) reacting a styrene-ethylene butylene-styrene block copolymer, having a styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene molecular weight ratios, respectively, of 1:6:1 to 1:3:1 characterized in that unsaturation in the styrene blocks is equal to or greater than 50 percent and the ethylene butylene block is hydrogenated leaving no more than 10 percent unsaturation, with at least one olefinic carboxylic acid acylating agent to form one or more acylating reaction intermediates characterized by having a carboxylic acid acylating function within their structure, and(B) reacting said reaction intermediate in (A) with an amino-aromatic polyamine compound and a lubricating oil composition containing same are provided.
Abstract:
Additives formed by reaction of polyacids such as 1,3,6-hexane tricarboxylic acid and polyisobutenyl succinimide of a polyamine are effective in improving the storage stability of middle distillate fuels.
Abstract:
Lubricating oil compositions of improved dispersancy contain an ethylene-propylene copolymer grafted onto which is acrylic acid dimer, the free carboxyl group of which has thereafter been amidized with diethylene triamine.
Abstract:
