    摘要: An air charging system for an internal combustion engine is disclosed which includes an electric motor driven blower mounted on the air cleaner housing located at the air intake of either a carbureted or fuel injected engine. The blower forces either heated air during startup or unheated air during actual running to the engine to thereby boost the output power and reduce harmful emissions. The speed of the blower can be either manually controlled or controlled in conjunction with actuation of the engine's throttle.

    摘要: Apparatus and method for packet redundancy and recovery are disclosed. In a transmitter, parity packets are generated by executing exclusive OR between the corresponding data packets, and are transmitted along with the data packets to a receiver. In the receiver, lost data packets are found out and are recovered by executing exclusive OR between the corresponding data packets and the corresponding parity packets. This invention enhances the reliability of streaming data transmission using loss-recovery packets. Data packets are grouped and transmitted with redundant packets to allow the receiver to recover a lost packet within the group. This will minimize the need and therefore the time and delay to request a retransmission of the damaged or lost packets.

    摘要: A layer of polyimide or polysilicon is used as a mask in vapor hydrogen fluoride etching. Both non-photosensitive and photosensitive type polyimide may be used. A non-photosensitive polyimide mask requires the use of photoresist for patterning with a lithographic mask. Alternatively, photosensitive type polyimide may be patterned directly with the use of a lithographic mask. The resulting polyimide mask enables the etching of very small features with great uniformity. Such etching may be used to expose micropoint emitters of field emission devices.

    摘要: An emitter substructure and methods for manufacturing the substructure are described. A substrate has a p-region formed at a surface of the substrate. A n-tank is formed such that the p-region surrounds a periphery of the n-tank. An emitter is formed on and electrically coupled to the n-tank. A dielectric layer is formed on the substrate that includes an opening surrounding the emitter. An extraction grid is formed on the dielectric layer. The extraction grid includes an opening surrounding and in close proximity to a tip of the emitter. An insulating region is formed at a lower boundary of the n-tank. The insulating region electrically isolates the emitter and the n-tank along at least a portion of the lower boundary beneath the opening. The insulating region thus functions to displace a depletion region associated with a boundary between the p-region and the n-tank from an area that can be illuminated by photons traveling through the extraction grid or openings in the extraction grid. This reduces distortion in field emission displays.

    摘要: The present invention is a baseplate that has a supporting substrate with a primary surface upon which an array of emitters is formed. An insulator layer with a plurality of cavities aligned with respective emitters is disposed on the primary surface, and an extraction grid with a plurality of cavity openings aligned with respective emitters is deposited on the insulator layer. The extraction grid is made from a silicon based layer of material. A current control substrate formed from the silicon based layer of material of the extraction grid is provided such that the current control substrate is electrically isolated from the extraction grid and electrically connected to the emitters. The current control substrate has sufficient resistivity to limit the current from the emitters.
