摘要: Disclosed herein is a hierarchical data storage and retrieval system implemented using a computed statistically unique signature for the content of given computer data as its basis. The data storage and retrieval system can be used to catalog computer information for easy indexing and retrieval. The signature is computed by any number of techniques so long as it is able to produce a statistically unique signature, one example being the SHA-1 algorithm. The system is able to reduce the amount of data that is stored and the time required for retrieving the data. Provide a way to move electronic data in an encrypted secure manner that requires the complete data set being moved for decryption of the data. Even if a portion of the data is compromised that portion would still remain secure. The data is encrypted and separated into two or more portions all of which would be needed to decrypt the data. Detailed information on various example embodiments of the inventions are provided in the Detailed Description below, and the inventions are defined by the appended claims.

摘要: A method for communicating with a downhole tool located in a subterranean borehole is disclosed. Exemplary embodiments of the method include encoding data and/or commands in a sequence of varying drill string rotation rates and drilling fluid flow rates. The varying rotation rates and flow rates are measured downhole and processed to decode the data and/or the commands. In one exemplary embodiment, commands in the form of relative changes to current steering tool offset and tool face settings are encoded and transmitted downhole. Such commands may then be executed, for example, to change the steering tool settings and thus the direction of drilling. Exemplary embodiments of this invention advantageously provide for quick and accurate communication with a downhole tool.

摘要: An improved expandable stent for implantation in a body lumen, such as an artery, and an improved method for making it from a single length of tubing. The stent consists of a plurality of radially expandable cut cylindrical elements generally aligned on a common axis and interconnected by one or more interconnective elements, the elements having a rectangular cross-section from cut-to-cut. The individual radially expandable cylindrical elements are disposed in an undulating pattern. The stent is manufactured by direct laser cutting from a single metal tube using a finely focused laser beam originating from a diode pumped fiber laser with an external pulse generator and passing through a coaxial gas jet structure to impinge on the working surface of the tube as the linear and rotary velocity of the tube is precisely controlled. To optimize the cut, the laser parameters may be adjusted and/or the laser pulse may be shaped.

摘要: An overlapping or nesting connector is provided for connecting adjacent edge restraint sections. The edge restraint includes a substantially upright section and a base section, and may include braces-extending between the upright section and the base section. The connector may be formed integrally with or separate from the edge restraint sections, and includes at least an upper wall, and optionally lateral walls and/or a rear wall. The upper wall may define an opening for a spike, and the brace or coupling structure with which the connector overlaps may define a corresponding opening for receiving the spike, which openings are aligned when the connector overlaps the brace. After adjacent edge restraints have been connected via the overlapping connector/brace, the spike is driven through the aligned openings into the underlying surface to provide a strong connection between the adjacent edge restraints and between the edge restraints and the underlying surface.

摘要: Landscaping support apparatus is provided which includes substantially vertical strip restraining elements for defining a boundary around hard surface elements. The vertical strip restraining elements include an inner surface facing toward the hard surface elements for receiving substantially horizontal forces from the hard surface elements. Horizontal extension elements are provided which extend out from an outer surface of the vertical strip restraining elements in at least the lower region of the upright strip restraining elements for receiving vertical forces relative to the ground surface. Force converting elements are provided for converting the horizontal forces received by the vertical strip restraining elements into vertical forces against the horizontal extension elements, thereby restraining the hard surface elements in the boundary. Attaching elements are provided which permit a detachable mounting of at least one of the horizontal extension elements and the force converting elements to the vertical strip restraining elements.

摘要: One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for emitting coherent output from multiple threads for the printf( ) function. Additionally, parallel (not divergent) execution of the threads for the printf( ) function is maintained when possible to improve run-time performance. Processing of the printf( ) function is separated into two tasks, gathering of the per thread data and formatting the gathered data according to the formatting codes for display. The threads emit a coherent stream of contiguous segments, where each segment includes the format string for the printf( ) function and the gathered data for a thread. The coherent stream is written by the threads and read by a display processor. The display processor executes a single thread to format the gathered data according to the format string for display.

摘要: Single pellets of a thermoplastic resin containing long glass fibers and a conductive filler are set forth that enable molded articles made from these pellets to exhibit conductivity and, at the same time, high mechanical properties. These pellets have mechanical properties that are substantially equivalent to non-conductive pellets of a thermoplastic resin containing same loading of long glass and provide conductivity that is substantially equivalent to articles obtained by blending two kinds of pellets, one pellet having a conductive filler and the other pellet one containing long glass fibers. The pellets include a thermoplastic resin, a long fiber reinforcing filler and a conductive additive dispersed in the pellet.
