摘要: A disclosure is made of various apparatus and methods for culturing and preserving cells and tissue in ways that minimize contamination potential, direct cells to reside in desired areas, allow uniform cell distribution during seeding, provide optimal growth conditions by controlling the amount of medium residing in proximity of cells, allow desired compounds and molecules to reside in proximity of the cells, allow co-culture, provide for efficient scale up, allow a desired shape of tissue to be created while retaining a closed system, and allow cryopreservation and reconstitution of cell and tissue while retaining a closed system. The apparatus and methods can be combined to prevent the need to remove the tissue from the enclosure at any point during the sterilization, seeding, culturing, cryopreservation, shipping, or restoration process. Also disclosed is an apparatus and method of pipette interface with a container in a manner that blocks contaminants from entering the container.

摘要: An electrical terminal includes a body having a first end, a second end, and a channel having an axis. The channel extends at least through the first end toward the second end, the channel configured and disposed to receive an electrical conductor. A contact gripping element intermediate the first and second ends extends into the channel at an angle from the axis. The contact gripping element is associated with the body. The contact gripping element terminates at an end having a reduced thickness. The contact gripping element is configured to exert a contact gripping contact force on the electrical conductor.

摘要: A system and method for determining and communicating the precise location of an individual and/or a motor vehicle in real-time is disclosed. As an example, a tracking system is disclosed that includes a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver, a cellular phone, and a processing unit. The GPS receiver, cellular phone and processing unit are arranged as a single, compact tracking unit. The processing unit receives precise location information (e.g., latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates) for the tracking unit from the GPS receiver. A cellular phone capable of receiving text messages (e.g., and/or voice messages) can be used to call the cellular phone of the tracking unit, which responds (e.g., to an authenticated call) by transmitting a text message (e.g., or synthesized voice message) including the precise coordinates of the tracking unit. Thus, either with or without the knowledge of the individual carrying the tracking unit or driving the motor vehicle containing the tracking unit, the system is capable of providing the exact location of the individual and/or motor vehicle to another at any point in time.

摘要: The invention relates to new compounds of the formula, wherein R and R1 are each independently hydrogen, a linear or branched C1-40 alkyl, C2-40 alkenyl or C2-40 alkynyl group, an aryl or C1-40 alkylaryl group or an optionally complex metal ion Mn+/n wherein n is an integer from 1 to 8; the free valences of the silicate oxygen atoms are saturated by one or more of: silicon atoms of other groups of the formula, hydrogen, a linear or branched C1-12 alkyl qroup or by cross-linking bridge members R3qM1(OR2)mOk/2 or Al(OR2)3·pOp/2 or R3Al(OR2)2·rOr/2; where M1 is Si or Ti; R2 is linear or branched C1-12 alkyl group; and R3 is a linear or branched C1-6 alkyl group; k is an integer from 1 to 4 and q and m are integers from 0 to 2; such that m+k+q=4; and p is an integer from 1 to 3; and r is an integer from 1 to 2; or other known oxo metal bridging systems; x, y and z are integers such that the radio of x:y+z, varies from 0.00001 to 100,000 with the fragments [O3/2SiCH(CH2PO(OR)(OR1))CH2CH2SiO3/2]X and [O3/2SiCH2CH2PO(OR)(OR1)]Y always present whilst the integer z varies from 0 to 200y. The compounds are useful as catalysts for a wide variety of reactions and have the advantages that they can be prepared in a one-pot reaction and have functional group losding can be tailored to be at a required level. In addition, the compounds have high chemical and thermal stability, fixed and rigid structures, are insoluble in organic solvents, high resistance to ageing, and can easily be purified and reused.

摘要: A system and method for providing an information vault so that individual owners of personal data may control and manage the access and dissemination of the personal data and provides for the owner of the personal data to receive compensation for the use of the personal data, thus, in effect, the personal data becomes a valuable commodity analogous to money. A business model is provided that allows competitive, unbiased trusted third parties whose business is protecting the information analogous to how a commercial bank protects money. Centralized protected storage of personal data is provided, thereby minimizing the number of copies that may be in existence. Second party access to the centralized storage of personal data may be made on-demand, as required for commerce, with a provision for assessing fees for accesses.

摘要: Digital data can be escrowed by receiving escrow parameters including a condition(s) for releasing the escrowed data, and an escrow recipient. An escrow contract is then created based upon the specified escrow parameters. The escrowing further includes storing the digital data in a secure information vault, and storing the escrow contract, along with a pointer to the stored data, in a database. When the condition has been satisfied, the data is released to the escrow recipient. The condition(s) for release can be a payment sum, a date, an indication from a depositor, a trustee or a vault administrator, and/or fulfillment of another escrow contract.
