Abstract: A system of a motor vehicle for detecting a wrong-way driving vehicle and warning third parties includes multiple sensors that generate associated input signals indicative of characteristics of a target vehicle. The telematics module further includes a controller and a storage medium storing computer code for execution by the controller. The computer code is configured to compare the characteristics of the target vehicle to associated threshold values. The computer code is further configured to determine a confidence score indicative of the wrong-way driving vehicle, in response to the controller determining that the characteristics exceed the threshold values. The computer code is further configured to compare the confidence score to a threshold score and generate a notification signal, in response to the controller determining that the confidence score is above the threshold score. The telematics module that transmits the notification signal to the third parties.

Abstract: A method for controlling an automobile vehicle remote-start operation includes linking a personal communication device of a user to an automobile vehicle. Data directed to initiation of an automobile vehicle remote start operation is collected on the personal communication device. The data is compared to a predetermined threshold. If the predetermined threshold is met, a screen prompt is generated and displayed on the personal communication device of the user requesting the user to initiate the remote-start operation. The remote-start operation is initiated by the user from the personal communication device.

Abstract: A vehicle includes ignition controls operable between an active state and an inactive state and a storage compartment operable between a locked state and an unlocked state. An electronic control unit (ECU) is configured to detect one of the active state and the inactive state of the ignition controls and includes data processing hardware and memory hardware that stores a security monitoring system. The security monitoring system includes an alarm and a security monitoring application that is configured to execute a delay mode including a tiered proactive measure. The delay mode is configured to delay translation of the storage compartment from the locked state to the unlocked state in response to a security event.

Abstract: A method for use aboard a motor vehicle having a vehicle interior and a vehicle telematics unit (VTU) includes detecting, using an electronic control unit (ECU), an active voice call between the VTU and a remote call center, and processing sensor data via the ECU. The sensor data is indicative of an operator of the vehicle having exited the interior. In response to enabling conditions, the voice call is transferred to a personal mobile device, e.g., a smartphone, external to the interior. The enabling conditions may include receipt by the ECU of a call transfer approval signal. A motor vehicle includes a body and control system attached thereto. The control system includes the VTU, a sensor suite, and the ECU. A computer-readable storage medium includes instructions, the execution of which by a processor of the ECU causes the method to be performed.

Abstract: A system for managing audio performance in a vehicle includes an audio unit having one or more speakers and one or more microphones respectively positioned in and/or around the vehicle. The speakers transmit an audio signal within the vehicle. A command unit is in communication with the audio unit. The command unit has a processor and tangible, non-transitory memory on which instructions are recorded. The command unit is adapted to receive the audio signal through the one or more microphones and determine whether at least one audio quality parameter of the audio signal meets a predefined threshold. The command unit may be adapted to take at least one remedial action when the audio quality parameter is below the predefined threshold.

Abstract: A vehicle assist system includes an imager coupled to a vehicle body. The imager is configured to capture a vehicle environment, and a GPS processor is configured to detect a geographical location of a vehicle. The vehicle assist system also includes a controller that stores vehicle data and a coastdown procedure. The controller is communicatively coupled to the imager and the GPS processor and is configured to detect a trigger event. In response to the trigger event, the controller is configured to execute the coastdown procedure based on the vehicle data, the vehicle environment from the imager, and the geographical location of the vehicle.

Abstract: Methods of securing a vehicle, via controller, include monitoring local events; determining whether the vehicle is parked in a dangerous area; and taking corrective action to protect the vehicle. Methods may include determining whether local events have occurred within a prescribed distance and, if the local events have occurred within the prescribed distance, arming the vehicle. Methods may include determining whether valuable items have been left in view and notifying a user of the vehicle if valuable items have been left in view via wireless communications. Methods may include locking vehicle doors and monitoring external and internal data or self-driving the vehicle to a safer area. Furthermore, if the methods determine that a theft is occurring on the vehicle, using nearby self-driving vehicles to block the vehicle in, which may be reached via V2X or a back office asking the nearby vehicles to block the vehicle.
