Abstract: A battery cell comprises a battery cell stack including A anode electrodes; C cathode electrodes; and S separators, where A, C, and S are integers greater than one. An enclosure configured to house the battery cell stack includes a can body defining a first opening and a second opening at opposite ends of the can body; a lid portion joined to the first opening of the can body by a first brazed filler material that is arranged between the lid portion and the can body and that has a first melting temperature; and a bottom portion joined to the second opening of the can body.

Each of the G battery cell groups include C battery cells, where G and C are integers greater than one. A plurality of dividers are arranged between each of the G battery cell groups. A gas manifold removes vent gases from each of the G battery cell groups.

Abstract: A battery assembly includes a battery pan and battery cells. The battery cells are supported within the battery pan and disposed in a plurality of rows. The battery assembly includes a plurality of vents, and each of the plurality of vents is defined by a floor of the battery pan, support members, and a battery tray. Each vent extends a length of each row. An endcap is coupled to the structural plates of the battery pan. The endcap includes a plurality of apertures, a baffle, and a vent channel. The baffle has a baffle wall disposed opposite the plurality of apertures. The baffle wall extends to the ceiling and the floor of the elongated body. The vent channel extends along the baffle and is configured to carry vent gas. The battery assembly also includes a pack vent configured to exhaust the vent gas from the endcap.

Abstract: A battery cell assembly includes a battery cell and a battery cell holder. The battery cell has a cell casing. The cell casing has an outer casing surface. The outer casing surface has a first plurality of grooves formed therein. The battery cell holder has a plurality of cell pockets. Each of the cell pockets has a wall. The wall has a wall surface. The wall surface has a second plurality of grooves that interact with the first plurality of grooves on the outer surface of the cell casing. The interaction of the first plurality of grooves on the cell casing with the second plurality of grooves on the wall of each of the plurality of cell pockets cooperates to prevent the battery cell from moving relative to the battery cell holder.

Abstract: A battery assembly of a vehicle includes a one or more battery cells, a battery housing in which the one or more battery cells are positioned, and a suppressant conduit extending from the battery housing and configured to deliver a flow of fire suppressant to the one or more battery cells. An activation element is configured to block the suppressant conduit and activate when a pressure exceeding a preselected threshold pressure is applied to the activation element, allowing a flow of fire suppressant to flow into the battery housing.

Abstract: A vehicle assist system includes an imager coupled to a vehicle body. The imager is configured to capture a vehicle environment, and a GPS processor is configured to detect a geographical location of a vehicle. The vehicle assist system also includes a controller that stores vehicle data and a coastdown procedure. The controller is communicatively coupled to the imager and the GPS processor and is configured to detect a trigger event. In response to the trigger event, the controller is configured to execute the coastdown procedure based on the vehicle data, the vehicle environment from the imager, and the geographical location of the vehicle.
