In embodiments, a transmitting device sends a time reference field to a receiving device when indicating that no more frames will be sent to the receiving device. The time reference informs the receiving device of the length of time that the transmitting device has committed not to transmit to the receiving device. When operating in conformance with the ECMA-368 standard, the time reference allows the transmitting device to control the length of the commitment period after the MORE FRAMES bit is set to zero. In this way, the commitment not to transmit may be made for a shorter time than the time until the beginning of the following Distributed Reservation Protocol (DRP) reservation block or the time to the beginning of the following superframe. The time reference may be added in the Medium Access Control header or included in a vendor-specific message, for example.

A method sends a signal to render visual information on a display, and receives a user response to the rendered visual information. The user response includes a first delay. The method also queries an electronic system for data indicating a second delay. The second delay is a portion of the first delay and attributable to the electronic system. The method further using the data indicating the second delay to compensate for electronic system delay during interactions with a user.

Systems and methods for decreasing the amount of information sent on a feedback channel are disclosed. Various forms of spectral binning may be used to reduce the amount of information sent on the feedback channel. The systems and methods may be applicable to wideband communication systems, ultra-wideband communication systems, and/or other communication system using multiple carrier frequencies (e.g., tones).

Systems and methods identify a multi-hop network data path with sufficient available resources at each node along the data path to facilitate desired end-to-end data flow. Embodiments operate to identify resource constraints for meeting QoS or other communication requirements at each node of a multi-hop data path and propagate the resource constraint information within the network for use in identifying data paths suitable for supporting a desired end-to-end data flow. A resource allocation algorithm operable to allocate resources to achieve an end-to-end data flow meeting the communication requirements is implemented according to embodiments. A resource allocation algorithm of embodiments operates to ensure efficient use of the available resources so that desired conditions are satisfied when the resource requirements are met at each intermediate node for the upstream and downstream links and also both links simultaneously.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure propose computer-program products for discovery of source or sink devices and their capabilities, prior to establishing a link such as a tunneled direct link setup (TDLS) link. The established link may be used for different applications such as Wi-Fi Display session with the desired source or sink device. The proposed computer-program product may also be applied to devices that utilize peer to peer communication.

A method of compressing video content is disclosed and may include receiving an image frame of a video signal having multiple components, generating an edge-map for the image frame, generating a bitstream base layer for each component of the video signal, generating a first bitstream enhancement layer for each component of the video signal, and generating successive bitstream enhancement layers for each component of the video signal. As the successive bitstream enhancement layers are generated, the method of compressing video content goes from lossy to lossless.
