Abstract:
A CAD/GIS system that automatically generates faces within land site maps, by sliding or rotating line segments between boundaries given start points and other attributes. As the attributes are entered into the system, faces are automatically generated based on those attributes, which eases creation of lots within subdivisions.
Abstract:
A method of joining expandable tubulars includes joining the tubulars by forge welding and flushing a reducing flushing gas around the heated tubular ends during at least part of the forge welding operation such that oxides are removed from the forge welded tubular ends and the amount of irregularities between the forge welded tubular ends is limited.
Abstract:
The disclosure is directed to landscape edging, such as blocks. Multiple blocks can be assembled to form a border around flower beds, trees, and other landscaping. A first end of the edging block includes a groove or mortise engageable with a second end of a second edging block having a tongue or tenon. The overlapping system inhibits growth of grass or other vegetation between two adjoining blocks. The edging includes a lip on at least one side that may function as a mowing strip or ledge. The block may be straight or curved, thus allowing multiple blocks to be assembled to form various configurations.
Abstract:
A battery package has a thermoformed thermoplastic clam shell container with a lid which snaps closed on a battery containing body. The lid has peripheral skirt portions defining shoulders which face downwardly. A lower segment of a paperboard card is clasped between the lid and the body, with upper edges which engage with the shoulders of the container lid and support the container and batteries. A connecting segment extends from the lower segment and passes through a gap defined between the two shoulders to join a card upper segment having a hang hole which receives a display peg. Tape extends from the body onto the lid to close the package during display. After purchase, the tape is broken, the card is removed and discarded or recycled, and the lid is reclosable for battery storage. The lid may be hinged to the body along a side or along the bottom.
Abstract:
Multicomponent superabsorbent gel particles are disclosed. The multicomponent particles comprise at least one acidic water-absorbing resin and at least one basic water-absorbing resin. Each particle contains at least one microdomain of the acidic resin in contact with, or in close proximity to, at least one microdomain of the basic resin. Blends of multicomponent superabsorbent gel particles with particles of a second water-absorbing resin also are disclosed. Improved diaper cores containing particles of the multicomponent superabsorbent gel particles also are disclosed.
Abstract:
Improved water-absorbing, crosslinked acrylate resins are prepared by aqueous polymerization of (A) acrylic acid neutralized 70 to 100 mole percent for example with ammonia and/or caustic alkali and/or an amine; with (B) acrylamide in a mole ratio of 70 to 100 mole percent (A) to 30:0 mole percent (B); and (C) a water miscible or a water soluble polyvinyl monomer in the presence of (D) a styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer, neutralized 70 to 100 mole percent for example with ammonia, and/or caustic alkali and/or an amine, in an amount of 1% to 25% based on the weight of acrylic acid or acrylate, such that the amount of (C) is 0.001 to 0.6 weight percent based on the total weight of (A), (B), (C) and (D). In addition, surface treating the water-absorbing crosslinked acrylate resins with a polyquaternary amine substantially further increases both the rate of water absorption and the quantity of water absorbed and retained by the resin. The untreated and the surface-treated resins also maintain the necessary "dry feel" required for most applications.

Methods and systems of maintaining, evaluating, and providing therapy to a lung ex vivo. The methods and systems involve positioning the lung in an ex vivo perfusion circuit; circulating a perfusion fluid through the lung, the fluid entering the lung through a pulmonary artery interface and leaving the lung through a left atrial interface; and ventilating the lung by flowing a ventilation gas through a tracheal interface. Maintaining the lung for extended periods involves causing the lung to rebreath a captive volume of air, and reaching an equilibrium state between the perfusion fluid and the ventilation gas. Evaluating the gas exchange capability of the lung involves deoxygenating the perfusion fluid and measuring a time taken to reoxygenate the perfusion fluid by ventilating the lung with an oxygenation gas.
Abstract:
A method for logging slick water hydraulic frac well includes the steps of: Perforating the well bore; Pumping fresh water into the reservoir; Running a high resistivity measurement tool down the hole to measure the resistance of the reservoir at selected intervals along the hole; Logging the resistance measurements; and Comparing the resistance of the reservoir strata with the resistance of the fresh water pumped into the reservoir to map the fracture. It is desirable but not necessary to run a high resistivity tool down the hole prior to the perforation step and measure the resistance of the reservoir to provide base line logging data, whereby the base line logging data may be compared with the water frac logging resistance measurements.
