摘要: An optically pumped bistable laser (LAS) with an active laser condition and an excited inactive condition is presented. The bistable laser (LAS) comprises an erbium-doped fiber (ER), a resonator (RES), a pumping light source (PUMP), and optical isolator (ISO), a wavelength-dependent coupler (WDM) and an asymmetrical fiber coupler (FC). Excitation from the excited condition is created by pumping light from the pumping light source (PUMP) into the erbium-doped fiber (ER), to place the bistable laser into the excited inactive condition. Optical pulses, which are coupled in through input (IN), activate the bistable laser (LAS) and enable it to operate both as a pulse generator and a trigger circuit, as a function of pulse duration and/or pulse frequency.

摘要: Known optical amplifiers, which are used in a light transmission path to amplify the light signals to be transmitted, have the disadvantage that the semiconductor lasers, used as pump lasers therein, are very sensitive to feedback.According to the invention, the operating current of such pump lasers (4) is modulated at a high frequency, which causes the pump laser to operate in a multi-mode, thereby making it insensitive to feedback. For example, the operating current is DC, on which AC is superimposed. In the event the optical amplifier has two pump lasers, their operating current is also modulated. Both pump lasers are then advantageously alternately switched on and off at a sufficiently high switching frequency, which also prevents reciprocal interference.

摘要: A process for making an electrically conductive pattern on a substrate comprising coating the substrate with a solution of salts containing at least one supplementary element, drying and heat treating the salt coating at a temperature lower than the temperature at which oxides form from the salts, then forming a metal conductive pattern on the heat treated supplementary element coating. This process can be used to make printed circuits on ceramic substrates which are useful in hybrid circuits, for example.

摘要: A process for making an electrically conductive pattern on a substrate including forming a patterned adhesive layer on the substrate, applying a conductive metal powder to the adhesive layer, and in a second coating pass, applying a powder containing supplementary elements to the pattern. The patterned substrate is fired to volatilize theadhesive layer and sinter the powders. This process can be used to make printed circuits on ceramic substrates which are useful in hybrid circuits, for example.

摘要: This disclosure is drawn to methods, systems, devices and/or apparatus related to determining the density of a fluid. Specifically, the disclosed methods, systems, devices and/or apparatus relate to determining the density of a fluid in situ (e.g., in a downhole tool) under the Earth's surface using extrapolation and/or interpolation technique(s). Some example methods may include obtaining a fluid sample from a formation, measuring, in a downhole tool, a plurality of density values of the fluid sample, each density value being measured at a distinct pressure level within a pressure range, and extrapolating and/or interpolating the plurality of density values of the fluid sample to a pressure level different that the distinct pressure in which the density value is measured. Some example methods may include tuning one or more Equation-of-State model based, at least in part, on the density values.
