摘要: A textile substrate is patterned by the selective application of various dyes to the substrate surface in a way that provides desirable, visually apparent enhancements in the area of pattern detail, definition, and color range, through the use of a novel patterning system, including the application of various chemical agents, that makes such enhancements possible. In one embodiment, the patterning system described herein is capable of producing pile-faced textile substrates, useful as floor coverings, that exhibit a unique combination of desirable pattern attributes that have been identified and measured using novel techniques specifically developed for these substrates and pattern attributes.

摘要: A method of controlling the direction of a drill bit (3) at the downhole end of a drill string (2) drilling from a surface comprises providing two steerable stabilizers (4, 5) at the downhole end of the drill string (2) at locations spaced apart in the drilling direction and adjusting the orientation of the stabilizers to create reactive forces from the bore hole (6) to deflect the course of the bit (3) in a desired direction. The stabilizers (4, 5) are suitably arranged eccentrically and circumferentially offset by 180.degree..+-.60.degree.. In normal drilling the drill string (2) is rotated such that stabilizers (4, 5) engage the bore hole (6) to support a downhole motor (1) against tilting. When off course drilling is sensed the stabilizers are rotated to a position and stopped from rotation such that drilling forces generate reaction forces to cause a desired change of direction.

摘要: Surgical articles, such as sponges, are provided in a pack which contains individual surgical articles having UHF RFID or other electronic labels which provide both (a) unique identification information for each article as well as (b) unique identification information for all articles in the pack. Prior to the surgical procedure, the labels are scanned and the identification information for all articles in the pack uploaded to a processor to create a list of available individual surgical articles. At the end of the surgical procedure, the surgical articles are collected and the electronic labels read and compared to the initial list to determine if there are any unaccounted individual surgical articles. The UHF RFID tag may then be used to determine a location of the unaccounted article outside the patient's body.

摘要: The present invention relates to a nail and fastener assembly for use in providing a stable construct for optimal fixation of the hindfoot and to methods for implanting the nail and fastener assembly. One embodiment of the nail and fastener assembly provides additional fixation, for example, in the form of one or more threaded bores, to hold the fasteners in a fixed position. Another embodiment provides angled bores to allow multi-planar and multi-axial implantation of the fasteners. In some instances, the fasteners may cross one or more articulating surfaces of the foot. For example, the fastener may traverse one or more of the calcaneo-cuboid and the talo-calcaneal articulating surfaces to aid in more secure stabilization of the hindfoot.

摘要: A wheel position determination system and method to count wheel revolutions in a wheel unit of a tire monitoring system. An indication of the count is transmitted, optionally along with an indication of a left/right side position of the wheel on the vehicle, and an identification unique to the transmitting wheel unit, to a central controller of the tire monitoring system. In the central controller of the tire monitoring system, the count is compared with wheel speed information for the vehicle, such as from an ABS system, to determine if one wheel on each side of the vehicle is rotating at a different speed. Based at least in part upon a determination that each wheel speed is unique, a determination of wheel location may be made.

摘要: A speaker mount includes a support structure attachment, an adjustable mount connected to the structure attachment and including a first connector, and a speaker attachment including a second connector. The first and second connectors may selectively be connected or disconnected, permitting a speaker to be connected to and disconnected from the remainder of the mount. The first connector is mounted to a ball. A lock plate is mounted at an opposing side of the ball from the first connector. A fastener controls the distance between the first connector and the lock plate. In one position, the fastener draws the lock plate and first connector towards one another, fixing the lock plate in a position on the ball, and in another position allows the first connector to be moved relative to the ball. The mount permits orientation of a speaker in a variety of positions relative to a support structure.

摘要: A rotor assembly for an electric machine includes a rotatable shaft, a rotor core coupled to the shaft for common rotation, and an impeller coupled to the shaft for common rotation. A bearing is coupled to the shaft generally between the rotor core and the impeller. The bearing can include an outer race sized smaller than an opening defined by the machine housing. The bearing can include steel rolling elements such as steel balls or generally cylindrical steel rollers. An adaptor sleeve can be disposed generally around the outer race. The adaptor sleeve can be disposed within the opening defined by the housing for securing the adaptor sleeve and the bearing within the opening defined by the housing.
